True, but Freeze wouldn't be stepping into that situation. UF has a lot of advantages that we do not have.
I’m so tired of hearing this. Our roster is fine. We have everything that we need to be successful except a competent head coach. So let’s either go and get one or hope that Pruitt figures it out. But there is nothing at Tn keeping the football team from being successful on the field

This. All we are missing is the right HC.

I won't disagree with the last statement, but I still question if he could live up to the expectations of TN fans. Many of you keep hyping him up, but I'm trying to live in reality. It's one thing to call him our best option, but many on here have practically guaranteed his success. It's like they've learned nothing from our programs history this last decade.
I would fully expect him to win 10 games by Year 3, then be fired by Year 5, with no tangible hardware to speak of.

If they backed off those lofty expectations would that satisfy you or would you move on to the next thing on the list of reasons why Freeze isn’t a fit for you?
I wouldn't be as argumentative if people backed off their overhype. That doesn't mean I'm sold on Freeze. I think there are better choices, but I have zero faith they would come here. I realize Freeze may very well be our best option, but it still concerns me if he could turn things around without getting caught cheating. Whenever he returns to the SEC, he's gonna face a high level of scrutiny. They'll have a magnifying glass on him. That worries me.

He went 19-21 in the SEC. Is that doing well in the SEC? It wouldn't live up to our expectations. As a fanbase, we have lofty expectations.
This stat is being completely ignored by the Hugh-mongers. And, it is not like he started out slow and finished strong. His last year, he was 2-6.

What does this have to do with what I said? Mullen stepped into a UF program that wasn't struggling anything like we have in a state that is filled to the brim with football talent. That is a fact. I know you can see that.

The NCAA watches everyone, some more than others. I’ve not seen you post that you worry about Jay Graham being on the staff..

Jay didn't get into trouble at the level Freeze did. It speaks to your "some more than others" comment. Freeze would definitely fit that category.

Freeze gets us to 8-9 wins consistently. That is what’s we should be striving for right now. And then every few years have a chance at a big run.

Success to me is having a 8-4 floor. I think freeze in 2 years would have no problem winning 4 OOC, candy, UK, Missouri, and SCjr on a basically constant basis.

So best season since 2007?

Sure, I won't hesitate to say I think he's a good coach and would initially do well.

But it would implode quickly - and I don't believe he's a good enough coach to consistently win at the top of this conference, especially facing Saban, Mullen and Smart each year.

People point to those two wins vs. Alabama, and I won't take them away or discredit them, but in 2015 when he beat Alabama, he lost to Memphis and Arkansas.

In 2014 when they beat Alabama, they finished third in the West behind Bama and Mullen and Mississippi State.

He's a good coach, but he's a hollow winner and a certified bad person - and a risk to get your program in serious trouble. He ain't worth the risk.

I mostly agree though think it isn't unreasonable to trip up now and again against one of Candy, UK, Mizzou, and SCjr to go 7-5.

If we get into trouble we might not be good at football anymore.

Those things are facts, true. But TN has everything Florida does except for the in state talent, and TN's in state talent is increasing, just look at that '22 class, that if we aren't careful we are going to squander. But we are not in bad shape. We have a lot of young talent on this football team including a 5 star freshman QB. This team with competent coaching could be competing for the east.
