joy, a gun discussion.

have my Grandfather's single shot .410 shotgun. My uncle had the turn of century muzzleloader & side-by-side folding stock
12 gauge from 20's. Of course meth heads stole the latter, unfortunately we didnt find out till Uncle passed.

Anyway, the gun is 60's mass produced single shot. Squirrels beware, unless I miss and reload.

Not a gun person by any means. Do realize however the importance of them, esp for subsistence. Love idea of passing things down also.

Dad's gonna give me his 16 gauge, for the boy and I to do some duck hunting.

Edit: Ive also looked at several side arms, mostly Glock arms as the armory id do business with sells them. I welcome any input. Gun would be used on trail, as bear deterrent mostly. Think .9 is best choice personally.
I have quite a few guns thats were handed down through the family. I cherish those more than any I've built or bought.

My wife owns a glock 19. Glocks are dependable and easy to clean.
A 9mm can kill a bear. But, I would go a little higher to .357. A .45 is probably what you want for everyday and you can get a 3.5" barrel for concealment for hiking.
