Moved up fairly quick. HS HC...Ole Miss assistant...Lambuth HC...Arkansas State OC then HC...then Ole Miss HC. All before the age of 42. I don’t see the comparison between the two. There are people other than us that know more about Hugh Freeze. Not saying he’s a bad candidate, but that’s just the truth.
Kind of like why people questioned why Gregg Marshall didn’t move up more quickly at Winthrop or maybe even at Wichita State. The truth finally came out.
Some will transfer whether we keep Pruitt or fire him. We say the same thing every coaching change. Usually the new coach brings excitement and most decide to stay.I have this deep-seeded fear that we're going to fire Pruitt, hire Coach McGoogle, and watch all of our good players transfer out. Moses wandered in the wilderness 40 years. It wouldn't surprise me if UT wandered even longer given our leadership.
If that’s the list they should have kept GusIf the top 5 for Auburn job on the Auburnwire are accurate...
Kevin Steele
Billy Napier
Steve Sarkisian
Brent Venables
Tony Elliot
I'm not too worried about any of those names, honestly. I like Sark/Napier but I think both would be better in the East than the West. SEC West has some serious heavy hitters at every job right now, it's going to continue to be the tougher division.
I just wish this whole buyout crap didn’t exist and universities had leverage over coaches instead of coaches over universities. I wish we could find a stand up guy who says when I suck and this team sucks again in 3 years, I will admit I’m trash and won’t milk anymore money from the program.

And yet, Sanders was another UT coach who was constantly criticized here. Many said we had no chance to win the Championship in 98 because he took over when Cut left. Even after that he was criticized and most who spoke were glad he left.
Then have a reasonable severance. If you fail at the job, $12 million isn't a reasonable severance.Unfortunately guys like Miles, Richt, and Gus would then get fired despite on the field winning and universities wouldn't think twice about it. I get why the coaches want something considering it's a complete lifestyle change taking jobs. Packing up the family to move, selling a house, buying a house etc. then getting fired with nothing to show for it..
Cause if you move to one state to take a HC job and are fired, there's almost never another job in town for that line of work so you then HAVE to pack up the family, sell a house, buy a house all over again.
