Today won't be the day, and LOL at a coach being lined up.

We don't even have universal agreement on whether or not to fire our current guy. Just wait til the shitshow starts when everyone wants their two cents included on the replacement.
Its like everybody has forgotten how this works.

The last coach we hired that we at least had an idea on before his predecessor was fired was Kiffin.

Lol! We averaged less than 75,000 fans in Neyland in Pruitts second season when he actually pulled some wins off. What makes you think 80-100k will pick one to see a lame duck coach who just won three games the year prior? Attendance will be the worst it has ever been next year (not including a pandemic year).

I disagree. When people get a chance to return to normalcy with no capacity requirements or gathering requirements or lockdowns, they will be out in full force for the first few times. Considering we will be lucky to have that return to normalcy by late summer, football season is perfect timing for all these limits and capacity requirements to be lifted.

There will be tons of people who will want to go do a gameday after not getting to do it for almost 2 years.

Which brings me to my real question. What would motivate him to do that other than Pruitt just sucking. There’s more to this than that.

My guess is someone booster-side told him he would get a piece of the pie after Pruitt was gone. That report didn't come from the AD it had to be a nudge from a booster.

Expand the playoff to 16 teams at this point. Something needs to be changed, college football is becoming worst by the year.
Notice it got worse after the playoff began. I don’t remember many, if any, opting out of bowls either.

That said, expansion is probably for the best. I’d just rather have never even started it.

Here’s where I am...

I’m only at 55% that Pruitt is gone. The Fulmer statements and down playing of the investigation are my reasoning.

If Pruitt is fired...My pick for head coach, if you could give me anyone in the country (Saban / Dabo / other locked in coaches not included)........

Bob Stoops

1. Mack Brown type hire
2. Rick Barnes type hire
3. Someone mature enough and with enough clout to get the behind the scenes around the program drama under control.

But write it down, Chadwell will be our next coach.

1. The last decade we always work our way down the list, getting turned down repeatedly.

2. Freeze won’t get an interview because he is so polarizing.

3. We usually end up with someone not even originally on the radar (Dooley, Butch, Pruitt). Therefore, Chadwell would be a little better than we usually do.

4. He is from Tennessee and is sharp. He would sweep them off their feet in interviews.

Take it to the bank.
Write it down.
Chadwell is the next coach at TN.

Eh, Pruitt will be back next year with a new OC. Bailey will take a step in year 2 because Weinke will be gone, the young players will finally play more, over the offseason the defense will get shored up, and Pruitt will win 7-8 next year and will be back for '22. Recruiting class will rank 17th nationally, missing out on Nolen, Simpson, and the other in state big fish. He'll land a couple, but the majority will go elsewhere.

The eye test is also just a clause for making the best business decision. I could see an argument where regular season games became more important with a expanded playoff

He said everyone

Said kids are tired of being tested 3 times and week and having zero life. They all deserve to go home with families and hang it up for the year

he was as animated as i have ever heard him

He isn’t wrong. These bowls are pointless this year. I hope the staff polled the players on if they wanted to play. I am sure there are several that want to play. Such as young guys who didn’t get much playing time. It wouldn’t surprise me if guys like Palmer and Trey opt against playing. This game should be solely about returning players.

We took the best sport around and needlessly tinkered with it to make it more like other, inferior sports.

Or people realize after the 2 year hiatus that the sorry product on the field isn’t worth their time and money.

People are tired and want to spend the holidays with their families. COVID has kept some players from seeing their families for a long time.

Yep. At this point forcing teams to play in meaningless bowls just reeks of money grabbing by the conferences.

I suspect at this point unless you are one of the teams or fans of the same 6 teams going to the playoffs every year then most people just don’t give a ****.
