So just gonna throw this out there. If Pruitt is retained, I don’t think they fire him next year. If you’re not going to fire a coach after a 3-8 season, your definitely not firing him if he goes 6-6. So he’ll probably be around till 2022. Jmo based on what the administration has done so far.
They are all trash, bro.

Agree. This program has no juice at all. Attendance has been dwindling down. It will be down regardless, but man, bring back JP for year 4 and there will be zero life in the program. The geriatric population (who actually watched UT when they were constantly elite) won't come because of lingering COVID stuff, and the younger generation isn't nearly as involved
Exactly. Younger generation barely cares. The ones I know only go when they get free tickets. It’s embarrassing.

Dooley was not a better coach. How did this rumor get started?

He was 4-18 in the SEC. Last SEC loss he was already out but during his timeframe we went 4-19 in the SEC.

Dooley:

15-21 (4-18)

Pruitt

16-19 (10-16)

Dooley put up points, that’s it. Terrible coach. Worse than Pruitt.
Agree with you, but that still just makes Pruitt the tallest midget.

Or people realize after the 2 year hiatus that the sorry product on the field isn’t worth their time and money.
This..

They've found that after freeing themselves from the clutches of addiction to the crappy product, known as UT football, their lives are much better, their wallets are fatter and they are happy once again...

One shot to get this right. There are a lot of fun things to do in east TN from September until the holidays minus COVID. People don't have to spend their time and money on bad Vol football. Bringing Jeremy back would be the final act to kill remaining interest for many current fans and there would be no attracting new ones. Vandy East if that happens. It's really that simple. UT and big boosters have used up all of the goodwill over the past dozen years. Nothing left.

Nailed it. I’ve heard fans say they’re “done” before only to come crawling back. It’s different this time and the administration would do well to take notice. I believe the administration is underestimating how fed up this fan base really is.

Lol! We averaged less than 75,000 fans in Neyland in Pruitts second season when he actually pulled some wins off. What makes you think 80-100k will pick one to see a lame duck coach who just won three games the year prior? Attendance will be the worst it has ever been next year (not including a pandemic year).
And recruits will be convinced Tennessee is not the place to be.

Eh, Pruitt will be back next year with a new OC. Bailey will take a step in year 2 because Weinke will be gone, the young players will finally play more, over the offseason the defense will get shored up, and Pruitt will win 7-8 next year and will be back for '22. Recruiting class will rank 17th nationally, missing out on Nolen, Simpson, and the other in state big fish. He'll land a couple, but the majority will go elsewhere.
This is where I’m at bass. This university has Freeze in the bag but is so scared to make it happen. It is what it is. We’ve accepted our place as a mediocre team.

There is only one member of the team that looked like they were giving full effort (Gray). For the talent level, this is the worst coached team I have ever seen. It isn't just recruiting that makes a team. There is a whole lot more than goes into it. It seems like we have only focused on the recruiting part. I wouldn't be shocked if our record and our current predicament make us start recruiting D2 level players. Once Pruitt is removed, someone will have to start from scratch.. again. Whole lot of no-fun.

SIAP - this makes sense to me...

In all honesty, I liked the Fulmer hire for AD. I knew he felt that he had been conspired against at the end, but I had hopes that him getting the AD position would reconcile some of those old feelings. Apparently not however. He’s got to understand that it’s a new day and age of college football. 3 years with little to no improvement is grounds for termination. That sounds rough, but it’s the business of winning at an elite level in football now.

If this would for sure be the case I would take it right now. Winning 8 games with a QB looking improved and defense improved? I would say if we did that the recruiting class wouldn't actually be that bad.

The “framework” of our offer was the 5-6 year range for mid 30 million range. All while Florida was prepared to offer that same range to its next coach. All I’m saying is Tennessee would have had to make an offer serious enough to make him not wait out Florida and would have been perceived by everyone as “overpaying for Mullen.”

Getting Mullen means we hire a proven coach, get a package of Grantham at DC, and more importantly, we beat our rival in the coach hiring game. Tennessee did Tennessee things and tried to make the “brand” go toe to toe with Florida.

In short, Currie was and is forever a moron.
Where did you get those figures?

Who are you and what have you done with the real @Bassmaster_Vol ?

I love revisionist history, especially when it involves knowing what someone was thinking at a given time.

I know for a fact that Tennessee's offer to Mullen was comparable to what he wound up getting from Florida. We didn't offer anything serious enough for him to not wait out Florida. This is fact.

Well, if we are really stuck with Pruitt for another year, I just want to thank all those who started all the rumors, during early signing week. That was really helpful there guys. Perfect timing too.

LOL, he won four conference games in three seasons. He also lost to Kentucky, with Bray as his QB, when Kentucky started a QB who was playing WR the entire rest of the season.

Its an exercise in futility to argue who is best between Pruitt, Dooley, and Butch. Why try to pick the best when they are all so bad.

Lol. We aren’t sniffing eight wins. We have the worst coach in the East. Don’t do it to yourself, this University loves this fanbase because they keep talking themselves that s*** will eventually turn into gold and they keep the gold from the fanbase.
Literally there is nothing in my post that says "gold" at all. Not a thing. It's a negative post. Year 4 and we're talking 7-8 wins. that's the 3 OOC cupcakes, Vandy, SC, and then one more. That's horrible. I'm just telling you what will happen.
