not going to defend him too much here, but the last 3 guys we got, we wound up landing on those guys after being told NO by several other candidates, several of whom were offered pretty big money relatively speaking. did we throw $10M at someone, no. but we didn't start our search at Dooley, Butch and Pruitt.DP tried to actually argue we haven’t hired cheap for our last 3 coaches.
Uhh dude we hired the coach from ****ing LA Tech after a 4 win season.
Does this mean all the upgrade coaches have turned us down and that's why we could be stuck with Gump another year?LA has addressed the Freeze stuff. If you have a significant portion of decision makers that are a against Freeze, it will be too decisive and cause more problems than it fixes. We won't and shouldn't be hiring a new coach for the simple reason to get rid of Pruitt. We need an upgrade. If we can't secure and top tier coach we won't do it.
I keep hearing about kicking the can down the road. It's my contention that if you hire a lower tier coach, you are usually kicking it 3-4 years down the road. We've been kicking the can down the road for the last 10 years.
I asked the question a few weeks ago, would you be willing to wait one more year if it meant hiring a better coach? That as opposed to a more risky hire this year. Before you say there are many hires that would be an improvement, and I can somewhat agree with that but are they the coach to be here for a while and resurrect the program? Also, we're not privy to what kind of feedback we may be getting from prospective coaches.
I said earlier, if the recruiting imploded, there would be no reason to keep him. Well recruiting didn't implode.
I don't think anything has been decided. I think the powers in charge are still gathering all that data. They are working on their timelines not ours. We want resolution now, but that isn't happening. The holidays, Covid, Pruitt's grandfather, all are factoring into the time table.
I agree with you up to the point when you mentioned that UT would "throw the bank at someone". That's not something they've ever done in the past. They definitely need to but that seems to be a stretch.I'm willing to bet the decision to fire Pruitt has already been made. It's a matter of when, and that could be in the middle or at the end of next year. Obviously you can't say that publicly. Boosters/AD etc... probably have a small list of home run, can't miss hires they will throw the bank at once they are available and willing to come. If Pruitt isn't fired in the next few weeks I would expect a splash hire to be the next HC at UT.
If Pruitt is fired in the next couple of weeks it better be Campbell, Freeze, or Kiffin. I doubt any of those will happen, so I expect Pruitt to be here to at least start the 2021 season.
We were told no because we were not looking to pay good money for a good coach. We were wanting to get away with paying the least amount possible for an SEC coach.not going to defend him too much here, but the last 3 guys we got, we wound up landing on those guys after being told NO by several other candidates, several of whome were offered pretty big money relatively speaking. did we throw $10M at someone, no. but we didn't start our search at Dooley, Butch and Pruitt.
had to go thru several "no thanks" first.
would bet we would hear a few more this time around too.
Good Lord. AP mentioning that Weinke could be back as QB coach on the podcast. @Bassmaster_Vol is going to love this.
Deer Park? Lol. Ok! And he was always going to Florida as I said. He preferred them as he was familiar with them. I already stated this. And we did not offer $7 million. LMAO!
I just wanted to know a if you a couple of specifics that you could state off the top of your head. Nevermind, no big deal.I really wasn't meaning to be snarky...sorry if it came off that way. I am just saying there is an abundance of anti-Gus Auburn info out there, they have despised him for a long time now and the reasons are valid.
oh, ok, so we were purposely tring to low ball ourselves in to bad hires for 15 years. We were told no because we were not looking to pay good money for a good coach. We were wanting to get away with paying the least amount possible for an SEC coach.
And we got about as bottom barrel as you can get. I mean ****. 4 wins at LA tech. LOL
Some have said it already on here, but I want to echo it. We are in a really tough spot. With how Auburn is screwing up their program right now with their own coaching search - unless we have a coach signed and sealed, I am not sure we will make a move at this point. I am sure no one wants to go down that path again. I love coaching searches and the excitement for the possibilities, but I look at Auburn and I can see us telling them, "Hold My Beer". Just my opinion.
and it's only fun until they actually make the introduction and you're like "wtf?"....lol.Some have said it already on here, but I want to echo it. We are in a really tough spot. I believe that is the numbet DP stated. Look at his posts since Saturday/Sunday. IDC if you disagree with it. I will take his info and opinions over your opinion anyday.Deer Park? Lol. Ok!
