The recruiting argument is terrible. Look at the 22 instate class. What gives you a better chance to get those guys? Pruitt winning 6 in year 4 or a new coach winning 6 or 7? A staff change next season all but guarantees those guys go somewhere else. Add that to how badly Pruitt has already recruited the state and how he did Howard and he's already behind the 8 ball. Pruitt isn't going to be able to pull the top guys from GA anytime soon, has made enemies throughout the state of TN, im going to guess made a few enemies in Alabama with dropping those guys late I would guess and TN historically has never pulled top guys out of UF. Clemson will continue to clean up in SC and NC. So where does he have left to recruit? Its asinine to keep him because most likely the next few classes would be as bad as Butchs 17 class.

Yes, the “we’ll be in a better position to make a change after next season” argument is completely untenable.

Wonder what names could be getting tossed around then? We need an Insider drive by!
lotta of hte same names associated with Auburn and USCe i'd imagine. Freeze likely isn't a realistic option. neither is Kiffin, much to my chagrin. so you're looking guys like Steele, napier, clark, marrone etc......

and nobody knows if any of them have been contacted, back channel or otherwise. but if they have, and they've said no thanks...that doesn't bode well for any other names that amy be on the list, and that's precisely how we wound up with Dooley and Butch....just kept crossing names off the list til someone said yes.

not interested in that. i'll just keep the knucklehead we got. sometimes letting things play out is the right move. and it looks like, at least right now, that may be the play here.

but nobody knows for sure....and likely won't til it's too late......lol.

TIFWIW

TB says very remote chance he returns. He thinks it's going to end, it's just a matter of how. He said a lot of poker being played right now. 10% or less he stays per TB.
Also said a new angle is that if they go for it and fire him for cause, if they lose in court they could owe him up to triple in a settlement.

Folks its very simple. I keep hearing names like Chadwell, Napier, being mentioned we will never compete in the east with these types, it will always be a 3-5 year rebuild. Until a top flight coach that has a successful record at a P5 school is hired we will never compete in the East. TN is so divided at the money level and it hasn't happened. Money talks everything else is just BS.

We might as well pull back on our expectations.

If that is true, I believe Pruitt will be the coach here next year. If he's getting rid of Friend, I bet he gets one more year to show improvement.
His contract’s up. Not exactly “getting rid of” territory. IF there had been an attempt to resign him, the fireworks would have been fun. 😏

They can serve it, but I’m not eating it. No more games for me until they get serious, it’s the only way to get their attention

Oh, I’ve got the biggest “I’m done” rant you can imagine ready to go if they bring Pruitt back for next year. And don’t worry @drvenner, I’ll make sure to @ you so you don’t miss it.

Go ahead.

Its stupid too because of future schedules. Next year would be an "easy" schedule as any for a new coach at TN. In 22 LSU is our rotational west opponent unless they change things, then it is Tx AM in 23. Going into 24 Oklahoma is back on the schedule unless TN decides to buy that game out. So bringing in a new coach with the possibility of 9 wins next year is a better idea then bringing in a guy who's ceiling is probably 8 wins any of the next 3 years after that.

If you consider losing Mims, TID, Lewis, Mondon, Malone, and others as not imploding then ok. This class is average as hell and the 2022 is the best in UT history. We won’t sign many if we suck again. So it will set us back even further. There is no excuse not to fire him. We can get Napier or Chadwell tomorrow and both are good coaches.
I'm talking about defections. You can't lose something you never had. The class didn't implode. I'm not arguing the merits of the class that we signed. You be the judge of that.

The downfall of TN football started under his coaching watch by being stubborn and hiring ****** coordinators....change my mind.

I’ve posted about 10 times the reasons this is the best year, maybe ever, to make a coaching change, and I hadn’t even considered the schedule.

Yeah patience is running out

If dude ain’t fired in the next couple of weeks. Another team will be getting my money for the time being and all of my Tennessee gear will be thrown or given away. This is getting sorry

How tone deaf does an admin have to be to not know it’s the right decision lmfao

And no, I can’t accept the whole “basketball school” thing. It’s not the same.

@LA Vol has been saying this for weeks. TN will fire Pruitt if they can ensure an upgrade that justifies spending the money to fire Pruitt and hire the new guy. If the coaches that meet this criteria are receptive then that makes the decision easier. If they get the "thanks but no thanks" responses for their higher tier coaches, they'll wait until next year and try again.

This is how I understood everything from the beginning. Then the investigation became public and insiders started saying “he’s done”. Pre-the chaos over the weekend, I always felt like this was going to be the approach, and personally, I think it’s the responsible, professional, “do things the right way” approach.

It’s us as the fanbase who have escalated things.

And before folks get worked up, I would prefer Pruitt NOT be our coach next year.

IMO Either we have Napier already pegged and we're waiting to see if we can fire with cause or not or the Auburn deal was soo bad no one is going to touch it.. hoping for the 1st
