I think the outcome however is that these coaches have done a very good job of separation from church and state on the major issues and only minor ones will show themselves...but it all depends how deep the digger is.

I appreciate what all PF has done for UT but it might be time to dump him too. I can't believe JP is still enjoying coaching at Tennessee and PF is ok with a 3-7 season. It doesn't make sense.

I get why Fulmer didn't fire JP during the regular season but to continue to back him is unexplainable

How can they think that much staff turnover will gel and have a successful season? Seems like hiring someone like Napier or Clark (or other likely candidates) and letting them bring their staff would lead to more success.

Scott Frost took his entire staff with him to Nebraska when he was hired and they are struggling in the Big 10. Nebraska may give him time to get it right because he's one of them. I somehow doubt that would play here unless any new head coach was one of our own.

Folks its very simple. I keep hearing names like Chadwell, Napier, being mentioned we will never compete in the east with these types, it will always be a 3-5 year rebuild. Until a top flight coach that has a successful record at a P5 school is hired we will never compete in the East. TN is so divided at the money level and it hasn't happened. Money talks everything else is just BS.

We might as well pull back on our expectations.

I have always believed that if you are elite at one level, you will be elite at the next. You are either really good or you aren’t. I feel that is the case in most professions. We have yet to hire a guy who I consider elite at the lower level.

Dooley (losing record)
Butch (solid record - followed Brian Kelly)
Pruitt (elite DC - no HC resume)

On that idea, Napier and Chadwell have a better chance of their lower level accomplishments transferring to a higher level. They both had to build from nothing. They both have good HC experience. They both have won bigger than their current schools history.

I’m on record, I believe Chadwell will be the next coach of the Vols...for better or worse.
