I have been a TN fan since the early ‘70’s. The run in the ‘90’s was incredible. Fulmer being the coach that finally got us the national championship will be one of the reasons he will always be loved by most people. However, that does not make him a good AD or even a good person. It only means he was a successful coach. He may be hard to work for and he may be in way over his head as an AD.

I know who Atlanta Vol is. I bought tickets from him a few years ago. He is all about trying to get TN back to the top. The man does way more for the university than 99.99% of the people out there. Disagree with him if you want but don’t question his motives.

Unfortunately, my luck is just like TN’s luck. I bought tickets from AV to see my fist game in Neyland but I had a heart attack in the stands before the players even took the field. I didn’t even get to see them running through the T. That was probably my only chance to go to a game. My daughter thinks I am foolish for caring about a team that has been so bad for so long. Like most of you, I just want to see this team compete on Saturday. I don’t have the $$ to do anything about it so I just read here and hope for the best.

I hope to see TN good again but it may not happen. Until then, I will always cheer for my team and hope for better results next year. Hug your family members if you still have them and Merry Christmas to all of Volnation

Come on guys it's Christmas Eve. Shelve all this hate for next week. Enjoy your family and friends the best you can. If this year has taught us anything it's that this game is insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

Merry Christmas VN! Have a safe and joyful few days. And please remember the reason for the season.

Truer words were never spoken. This morning my next door neighbor and good friend passed away with a sudden heart attack. Kinda shows me what's really important in life.

I don't know him, but Pruitt doesn't seem like a "yes, man". We've heard how he was with Mark Richt etc. I just don't buy it.

I tend to agree with that but then again....I can see how one's vocabulary can be modified for a few million $$.

Making memes about "Science" is like making memes about Muhammad. You are insulting people's religion.
Never had much use for "religion", but you're right and I forgot that some miguided souls consider science a "religion"..

It’s year 3 on the job. 3 years is long enough to tell if a coach is the one or not; Pruitt is not the one.

This seems to be what many think. But is it really true? I am not so sure. Not every college football program is equal. So potential coaches who walk into a new job are not facing the same circumstances. It would make sense then that some jobs may require longer to resurrect.

Let’s use Florida. Now some want to talk about how bad of shape they were in when they went 4-8. Well let’s look at it. Before they went 4-8 in 2013, they were:

2012: 11-2
2011: 7-6
2010: 8-5
2009: 13-1
2008: 13-1

Since 1990 UF has had what 3 losing seasons? Now look at our record since 2008.

2008: 5-7
2009: 7-6
2010: 6-7
2011: 5-7
2012: 4-7
2013: 5-7
2014: 7-6
2015: 9-4
2016: 9-4
2017: 4-8

The 10 years before Pruitt got here our average win total per year was 6 wins per year. Using these numbers it makes sense that a coach would have a much easier time taking over the UF job than TN.

This is not a defense of Pruitt. But it may be time to rethink the 3 year is enough time mantra. Because
it seems like it would only apply if every coaching situation were equal.

Looking for progress, not regression. TN wants to be elite, not middle of the road or just plain bad.

Here's the initial test version of the 757. A few changes were made later. I was one of the original test pilots. We has lots of problems landing it cause they put the nose wheel on the wrong end of the aircraft.:D:cool:

If he were showing progress I would agree with you, he is not. I never expected to be competing for championships before year 5. I’m not even talking about being competitive with Florida either, I’m just talking about being competitive with likes of Kentucky and Arkansas. Pruitt is not the one. It sounds like he’s going to be sticking around, so I hope I’m wrong.

The real head scratcher was the extension. There was NO reason to make that move....completely unnecessary. I’ve always defended Phil but that was an egregious mistake and leads me to believe he’s not a competent AD. The whole program is completely rudderless and now the NCAA is coming to town. It makes one think the goal is to bury us so deep we never recover...cause that’s what’s happening.

merry Christmas, where’s the Tylenol

Well, if you are Coach Fulmer and someone brings some info to you during the summer that could give ”cause” for some power people to fire Pruitt. And, you really believe Pruitt to be the coach for Tennesee’s future and are willing to put your weight behind it. What would be the best way to “encourage” Tennessee to retain him? — Money. Hence, the extension. Make it really hard/expensive to let him go. Fulmer’s way to protect Pruitt’s job.

My only issue with this post is it places all the blame on Fulmer for us not hiring proven coaches. He’s literally only been around for 3 years and responsible for one staff.

If anybody thinks that even without Fulmer we would hire a competent, proven coach, then I LOL at you. We wouldn’t. And until it happens no one can convince me otherwise.

We stopped acting like one of the big boys when we hired Derek Dooley. It’ll just be more of the same in the future until we strike gold and one of these young coordinators actually pans out.
Fulmer has only compounded the issues. It’s gonna have to be a phased approach, some of which may be handled simultaneously.

Phase 1 - Fire Pruitt... YESTERDAY

Phase 2 - Fire Fulmer... YESTERDAY

Phase 3 - Change the Control in $$$ / Decisions

Have to cut the heads off this 3 headed monster that is ruining this program.

It's just so wild to me to think that we are in the SEC with so much going for us but being run like we are some random high school team. How do people this incompetent have such huge jobs? And why hasn't anything changed in 15 years for the better? It's almost scary

Bc they have money. Or they’re friendly with the peeps who have money.

Any idiot can have money. And that idiot immediately becomes much more powerful than 99% of other people.
