That’s the part that makes no sense to me. He’s been here two years under Pruitt. If Pruitt managed it that why would Chaney stick around? We’ve seen his offense at Tennessee before and Georgia roll up yards and points but not this time around. Hopefully he got what he needs to finally get back there
I don’t think Jim is in any hurry to move around. I think I’ve heard that he loves East Tennessee and that his daughter is in school here. Hell he could just be collecting a paycheck and being lethargic the past few years because he’s been handcuffed. If there is a new HC and he is retained maybe some new blood would be a shot in the arm for him.

Steele being hired to be on Pruitt's staff. I know we're worked up and want change, but it's the only answer that makes sense.

Another angle I haven’t seen mentioned. Steele taking this job satisfies his contract with auburn and he might already know he’s never really going to work here.
This just gets him his buyout

What am I missing....why wouldn't he get his buyout anyway?

247 reported that Pruitt was part of the hiring process for bringing Steele in. That sounds like Pruitt is staying if he has input on hiring a coach like that.
Well, if that's true then this is all much ado about nothing.

Wonder if Steele will bring in that Auburn defender that just hit the transfer portal. Our D needs front 7 help.

I hope so. We need him to find that offense again to keep up apparently

A lot of times people in the ivory towers have little to no common sense. They can be very out-of-touch people.

How many work jobs where the "associate vp of <insert buzzwords one learns when getting a MBA>" tells you how to do the job you already know how to do?

That's what being a professor is like. Except, swap out "VP" for "Dean" or "Provost" or "Chancellor." We also VPs, too.

Heaven forbid any university promotes me into administration. There will be a culling.

He has to show an effort to gain employment

If he wants to head to the beach this is the perfect way to still get his money

Yup. But these dudes will literally invent scenarios that fit what they want to happen, and then believe the **** as if there is actual evidence to support it.

So we are going to keep a 3-7 coach that doesn't have a prayer against UGA/Bama/UF, and was blown out by KY at home...and looks like he also got us in hot waters with the NCAA.

The stupidity is just crazy. In any other world these results would be grounds for dismissal.

I know I’m going to be in the minority here, but I can live with that. We need some adults in the room. This place recruits itself. I’m not saying this is my first choice, but I don’t think it’s the worst thing either.
What the **** does "adults in the room" frickin mean? Boring old lifeless deadbeats with dead careers running the place even further into the damn grave?

I am sick of seeing that stupid ridiculous comment over and over again by the old codger brigade.

And I am an old codger.

Oh, that makes sense. Got it.

1. I think the fact that we have no idea what role or position Steele is taking is a huge sign that Pruitt's gone.
2. I'm happy to have Steele as long as he isn't the HC or being forced down the throat of potential candidates as DC. If they are going to use him off-the-field like Alabama's factory of misfit toys, then LFG.
And why announce it at this point. It’s premature unless you come out & say x y & z was found with this investigation & we’re keeping or firing Pruitt.

I've said this before, but I respect Philip Fulmer for his time here as both a player and a NC winning coach. I'll always have love for him for those things.

But I look forward to the day he is fired as AD. He continues to show he's not qualified for the job and makes horrible decisions.

The timeline is now starting to become very clear.

Tuesday: Fulmer and Admin have Steele in place today with no current title assigned to him.

Thursday: Pruitt will have his final meeting with admin.

Friday/Saturday They agree to a negotiated buyout and Pruitt is sent on his way.

Sunday: Steele named interim head coach. Focus's on calming our current and incoming roster down over the phones.

Monday: Students start to report back to school for classes on Wednesday. Team meeting

Beyond that, not sure if this is an active coaching search or Steele is named head coach.

Yup. The admin doesn't care about winning and they certainly don't give a **** about us liking it or not. Accept it or find a new team. It will not change.

Take it with a grain of salt. Everything @Kingston Vol said I heard from a different source. This is the stuff floating around Knoxville. Also said Mims told Kirby. Who knows if it is true.
This stuff is floating around all of college football. I have been hearing rumors of us cheating since April. I do not know if any are true, but I am just hoping we can deal with it without much damage.
