Lol on what planet is Doug Marrone a “slightly” better coach than Pruitt? Have you watched our teams play for 3 years?

Do you know what Syracuse was before and after Marrone? They hadn’t had a winning season since 2001. And they have only had two (one the year after he left) since he left.

When he was hired with the bills in 2013 (6-10 his first year).... they had not had a winning season in 10 years and they go 9-7 in his 2nd year.

Takes over a 3-13 team in jax that had not had a winning season in 10 years ....had not won the division in 18 years.... goes 10-6... wins the division... couple plays away from the Super Bowl. Made blake bortles look at times like a franchise QB....

Please Stop spamming the thread with lazy takes just Bc you don’t think he’s the right hire.

But he’s just fulmers buddy.
Literally that’s how Lazy some of these are as they refuse to see what the man has done in the 20years since his one single year with fulmer

I don’t care if someone is a good hire or not. I think he’s one of the coaches that would at least have us out of the cellar and quite honestly that’s all I’m worried about right now. I’m not even thinking past that.
Which was my narrative with Barnes. I wanted someone to stop the bleeding...now we’re doing blood drives.

Marrone? Nowhere close to a Pete Carroll type of coach. Carroll has championships at both the college and NFL level on his resume. Marrone doesn't even have a winning record.
I think people meant that he was a mediocre nfl coach that had been fired twice before he went to USC.

He’s mediocre however you want to spin it.

Pete Carroll had none of that when he took the USC job. Wrong timeframe for the comparison. He was 27-21 in the NFL and had been fired before taking the USC job.

What the **** does "adults in the room" frickin mean? Boring old lifeless deadbeats with dead careers running the place even further into the damn grave?

I am sick of seeing that stupid ridiculous comment over and over again by the old codger brigade.

And I am an old codger.
It ****ING means that this place is a dumpster fire right now and we need to get someone where the job won’t be too big for them, which has been the case for over a decade. I’m just as sick of seeing the same people showing up in every thread bitching and moaning like a 16 year old girl that didn’t get her Sweet 16 BMW.

... We need some adults in the room. This place recruits itself. I’m not saying this is my first choice, but I don’t think it’s the worst thing either.
I see this a lot and it's simply not true, at least not at an elite level anymore. The only places that actually "recruit themselves" at that level have great coaching that develops talent and WINS games...

Build it, and they will come.

Keep stepping on your dick every 3-4 years and they won't.

You're cherry picking. At the end of the day you are what your record says.

25-25 in college (.500)
38-60 in NFL (.388)
63-85 overall (.426)

Yes - that is better than Pruitt. But are those the expectations now? If so, just pack it up and cancel the program.

Okay, I'm just throwing this out there and I'm not saying it is so or looking for a fight or whatever, but ... in 2019 Pruitt had a pretty good staff in place (S&C included) and won 8 games. Admittedly, it should've been 10 (GA St and BYU). In the events leading up to the 2020 season, the staff replacements were mostly headscratchers that obviously hurt the program, hence the 3 win season. I said that to say this, maybe (hopefully) if Pruitt is retained, he can somehow reassemble a better staff, and get things back on track.

I say that in light of the Steele hire. If Pruitt is retained, hopefully adding Steele is a sign that better coaches will be hired than those who are leaving on their own or have been let go (or get axed as a result of the investigation).

All of this is just my opinion, which won't even buy a bag of chips.

Edit to add that if Garner is coming too, it looks like upgrading the staff type moves. Again, jmo.

My point being look at who our head coaches have been the last 12 years. They’ve all recruited on a high level at some point of their tenure. Then it usually falls apart. Meaning Tennessee already has a foot in the door, and I agree once we start developing the talent and winning it won’t take much.

you're steele the one i want:
