That’s basically everything I’ve said in this thread today. I’m also not saying I want Marrone to be the guy, just that I see ways that it would be possible for him to succeed if he does get the job.We have had average recruiting by SEC standards. Good enough though, with SOLID coaching it should've definitely got the ball rolling. The problem all along has been terrible decision making from those "adults in the room".
We need to be like bama ONLY in their focus, dedication and work ethic, from boosters all the way down to assistant trainer.. If you're not on board and puliing in the same direction, GTFO..
It absolutely starts at the top with doing what's in the best interest of the PROGRAM, not yourself or your best buddy......
You're cherry picking. At the end of the day you are what your record says.
25-25 in college (.500)
38-60 in NFL (.388)
63-85 overall (.426)
Yes - that is better than Pruitt. But are those the expectations now? If so, just pack it up and cancel the program.
Because Marrone has already been a successful college coach much the same. If fact winning a conference title has been harder at Syracuse than winning a natty at LSU
LSU has 3 nattys this century with 3 different coaches. Saban had 1
Syracuse has 2 conference titles this century and Marrone has one of them .
People act like marrone wasn’t good in college.
That’s a damn lie. Hell he was so good he got an NFL job in his back yard because he did such a good job
iF Pruitt coaches for the next decade there will be some on here saying, "Things could get interesting today. Freeze warning." I mean have some common sense. They want to believe something so bad that they tell lies to themselves and believe them.Lol hiring steele still isn't enough to convince you pruitt isn't going anywhere.
Why would Pruitt want Steele to be his DC, Pruitt wants it done his way. Steele is not like Ansley. Ansley is yes man to Pruitt, no way Steele will do that.
Lol oh yeah. Hiring steele sure showed us all how serious they are about playing winning football. ****ing idiots run this program.Basilio: USCjr trying to poach Hyatt; To'To had interest from Bama.
Basilio: This is a big reason for the Steele hire, not as DC but to show we are still serious about football.
Saban was 34-24 at Michigan State before getting the LSU job. He had a .500 record at MSU before his last season there when he won 9 games.Syracuse: 25-25
Nick Saban prior to LSU: 48-16
Saban had a National Championship under his belt before he accepted an NFL job.
It’s not even close to being the same in terms of being “successful”
Did Steele have offset language in his contract?
Right. This is what i was saying earlier. Steele wanted the auburn head coaching job bad. He never tried to move on and land a DC job..... i don’t think it’s out of the question that he’s just coming here to basically hangout and survey the landscape. Chip long did the same thing essentially. Fulmer is obviously tight with him and it’s a win win for both of them no matter who the coach is.Another angle I haven’t seen mentioned. Steele taking this job satisfies his contract with auburn and he might already know he’s never really going to work here.
This just gets him his buyout
