It's interesting to me to see the vocal disdain for certain coaches when history has provided examples of coaches being successful in college vs. pro (Saban/Spurrier), or vice versa, and coaches 'figuring it out' in their 3rd or 4th HC stint (Carroll/Saban) etc. When you look at the current college football landscape, fact of the matter is there's 6 current HC with rings (Miles/Brown/Fisher/Saban/Ed O/Dabo) total!
The fanbase will b!tch regardless of the hire, when in fact no one knows who the next National Championship coach will be. We can speculate that there's certain traits or qualities that we fell are better than others, but even if the fanbase got to hand pick the coach/coaching staff/players/trainers/etc. it still wouldn't equate to a guaranteed title.
I continue to hold out hope that Tennessee still views itself as a "Blue Blood" program and is working diligently to get us back in the mix for SEC and National Championships. Other schools feel the same way (Texas/Nebraska/ND/FSU/USC to name a few). My hope is that we're able to turn this thing around, but to say there's any type of absolute is crazy. So, with all that said, Marrone/Chadwell/Steele, who the hell ever, pick one and let's go!
