What has caused the concentration of great teams in college football over the last 10+ years? Why isn’t the talent more evenly spread out?
the easy answer is coaching and timing.

Urban Meyer at OSU, Saban at Bama and Swinney at Clemson. to a lesser degree, OU is in that mix though Stoops was a veteran coach, and they seem to have maintained somewhat with Riley there. Brian Day obviously has picked up where Meyer left off.

it's no longer a glass ceiling for other teams/programs with those 4 or 5 teams standing on the roof..... and the money is such that there are a lot of stakeholders that want to see things stay the way they are. between TV contracts, post season pay outs etc....the whole business of college football changed, big time. and there's really no incentive for it to change unless it just changes on its own, organically, as far as competitiveness goes.

You can argue we have made bad hires, however the money thing hasn't been an issue.
With Dooley hire the timing was bad. Outside of that I think we always aim a little low. I mean Greg Schiano was our guy. Money isn't the probably when you go straight to the bargain bin.

There is no doubt in my mind that Steele is who Pruitt wanted to hire. Pruitt has been talking to Steele about this since Steele didn't get the Auburn head job.

I'm sure Fulmer liked the idea because he has been friends with Steele for a long time.

If something were to happen with Pruitt, Steele could definitely step in and run things as an interim.

Pretty bold of Pruitt to hire someone that can take control of the program. Maybe he cares about what's best for the players and doing what is best for the program. Never would have thought that with how awful everyone says he is.
Probably the only hire he was approved to make.

Swain wants Pruitt fired. He believes Freeze is the best option, but wouldn't hate the Marrone hire.

Swain, has seen no player development from any position in the past 2 years.

This is the staff that has turned Trey Smith into a 2nd round draft pick.

They did some good work with Butch guys like Nigel Warrior, Darrell Taylor, Daniel Bituli and Josh Palmer though.

All of Pruitt's recruits were more impactful in their first seasons then have regressed.

The only two Pruitt recruits who have moderately progressed have been: Eric Gray, Henry T., Q. Crouch.

The lack of defensive progression has been the single most disappointing thing to me about the Pruitt tenure.

Texas A&M wanted to be good and payed 10 million for a HC. We support our HC with a staff but we hire coaches who were making 2 mill and pay them 4. The biggest name coaches bring a 6+ million dollar price tag and I don't think we have serious made a run at any of them in our last 3 coaching searches.
Jimbo wasn't coming here, no high profile, successful coach is coming here. The only one who would consider it is Freeze, he's had marginal success at best and got his program in hot water doing it.

Unless your argument is we should pay 2 million dollar coaches on par with Jimbo then your point is moot.

As the song says, money makes the world go ‘round. Lowest TV ratings ever for NC game last Monday.

I think Pruitt is still gon... too much toxic still going around... Too much smoke around Marrone and now Steele coming... Need Garner ASAP...

Bring Big Kat, Hardy, Hooker, and Gilbert and let's roll with it.

No realistic scenario that would work if gump stays along with Ansley and Steele... that just doesn't work. I think fat ass chaney stays though unfortunately unless we get a new coach who demands his own OC...

There's just too many negative pieces to this puzzle on Pruitt for him to stay... defense regression, player regression, recruiting regression, QB chaos and poor decisions, toxic personality, hot head, no one likes or seemingly respects him that work for or with him, transfers, 1987 offense, excuses, ...... you could just keep going.

So how do you keep this for another year? We've talked about this over and over, but fans need to walk away if this Admin is okay with this circus.

I think this is what is being set up. Although I think it may be next year sometime when it actually unfolds.

Then the wheels will inevitably fall off at the absolute worst time to try and get the most out of that ‘22 in-state class. The perfect time to get that bump in recruiting that comes with a new coach is now.

I can’t believe UT brass don’t recognize it.
