the easy answer is coaching and timing.What has caused the concentration of great teams in college football over the last 10+ years? Why isn’t the talent more evenly spread out?
Urban Meyer at OSU, Saban at Bama and Swinney at Clemson. to a lesser degree, OU is in that mix though Stoops was a veteran coach, and they seem to have maintained somewhat with Riley there. Brian Day obviously has picked up where Meyer left off.
it's no longer a glass ceiling for other teams/programs with those 4 or 5 teams standing on the roof..... and the money is such that there are a lot of stakeholders that want to see things stay the way they are. between TV contracts, post season pay outs etc....the whole business of college football changed, big time. and there's really no incentive for it to change unless it just changes on its own, organically, as far as competitiveness goes.
