That's not how they do it at Bama, which is but one more reason they're good at football.
Agreed. But will still not give any money to this university or go to a single game. I can watch them all from the comfort of my home and save myself the anger. But I will always be a UT fan.I will cheer on the Vols no matter who is the head coach. Or who is the AD. Or who the players are.
I love the orange and white.
I will support Pruitt if he is back because he will be a Vol.
I will support a new coach if there is one for the same reason.
This x 1,000! The KY game reminded me of watching UT vs UMass under Butch - team looked like they quit. That was first time I felt real concern over whether this job was too much for Pruitt. Ga St I attributed to learning curve, I understood position UT was in when we hired him (& options available at the time), so I was more patient than some. Still think he can coach & recruit, if he's on our sidelines this Fall, I will be hoping he's learned from the total s#%t show he put (& allowed to stay) on the field this past season.A better QB and the ability to open things up will make a difference-- how much, TBD. This endless controversy and hatred originated with Pruitt's blind allegiance to JG and snowballed with the losing. Factor in the investigation and fans clamoring for Freeze, and it became an avalanche.
JG giftwrapping the game to UK and Pruitt's tone deafness tipped the scale.

People can get mad at us if they want. We just aren't cool with this ******** and we aren't afraid to say it.That’s four people who are tired of UT being an embarrassing heap of garbage. Sorry we don’t settle for mediocrity. I bet your room is filled with participation trophies.
I shouldn't even call it Chaney's offense. I have no idea. I don't really like Chaney, but let's be honest. Does this offense feel any different than Helton's? We aren't taking snaps under center any more. Other than that, if they swapped Helton for Chaney and didn't tell anyone, I don't even know if anyone would notice.I'm convinced Chaney watches tik tok during practice.. and in games.. I mean he doesn't recruit either soooo
Sadly, I don't think even doing all that would fix whats wrong with our football program. I really think the people in charge just dont care about winning. It's like spanking your kids. You love them but you have to show them what they're doing is unacceptable. Don't support this BS until they change. Don't buy tickets and gear. Otherwise they'll keep trotting out 5-7.
It's Saban's offense pre Kiffin.I shouldn't even call it Chaney's offense. I have no idea. I don't really like Chaney, but let's be honest. Does this offense feel any different than Helton's? I don’t know what you do for a living and I feel like I’m always at risk of sounding condescending when it comes to how universities work. So, if you work at UT and I’m wrong, I apologize and please correct me.
However, I work at another SEC school and I keep laughing at the thought of poor athletics costing our provost his job. He is judged by keeping enrollment up and keeping books balanced, including bringing in research money from the DoD, Monsanto, etc. Athletics are basically part of the advertising budget, not the core business. Even at Bama, the upper admin are probably walled off from the AD to have plausible deniability unless something goes off the rails. If the athletics programs crater, the buck stops with the AD.
That being said, upper admin can get fired as a result of athletics if booster politics are also in play, or if they knowingly aid and abet academic issues that could impact accreditation (like admitting a student who can’t read and graduating them). And this comes around to @UTProf’s posts about our booster issues. Rich people have powerful friends. The problem isn’t our upper admin. The problem seems to be the forever wars between factions of our boosters.
I live in Knoxville so I think privy to more anecdotal info than some. I do think (don't know for certain) that this is the BIGGEST issue UT football has vs. other SEC football schools. Big-time egos pulling in different directions. I won't disparage any of the big boosters, I'm grateful they're all willing to invest their $ in UT athletics, but I wish old feuds could be put to rest. I think Fulmer loves UT as much as I do, but doubt he's the guy to bring all sides together.I don’t know what you do for a living and I feel like I’m always at risk of sounding condescending when it comes to how universities work. did we though?
do we remember exactly how that USCe game went for us? w/out a pick 6 and a muffed punt to end the game....we might be 2-8. if Mizzou had figured out the QB on the bench was better than the guy they trotted out in our game, do you think we beat THAT mizzou team?
i'm glad we won both of those games, but i don't recall everyone talking about how bad azz we were at the time. there was hope. there was opportunity....but at best, i think 'cautiously optimistic' was the tone....there were warts. and no one....no one...was confident that the QB spot was good enough yet. he was not good in the USCe game, he was better against Mizzou...but no one was talking about JG being good.
Completely agree. IMO - the game has passed Chaney by and he has ridden reputation for too long. There are a lot of Chaney defenders on here and will interject "but JG". I am not a fan of Chaney. He had a lot of criticism the last time he was here too. I'd like to see what someone else could do, like Joel Osovet or anyone that could (1) read defenses and (2) find ways to be innovative.I shouldn't even call it Chaney's offense. I have no idea. It’s totally different in terms of what they are asking the QBs to do and the run game. Run game was much more downhill with Helton with a little more misdirection. Passing game called for much more screens on the outside and alerts. Helton used the slot (Jennings) for more of a chain mover abs volume WR. Chaney likes to use it to stretch the field particularly with Hyatt.I shouldn't even call it Chaney's offense. I have no idea. I don't really like Chaney, but let's be honest.
