A better QB and the ability to open things up will make a difference-- how much, TBD. This endless controversy and hatred originated with Pruitt's blind allegiance to JG and snowballed with the losing. Factor in the investigation and fans clamoring for Freeze, and it became an avalanche.

JG giftwrapping the game to UK and Pruitt's tone deafness tipped the scale.
agreed, and that's all fair criticism....siap, but we could have done virtually anything else with the QB spot and gone 3-7, so there just wasn't any real benefit to sticking with him as long as we did....and that is on the staff and pruitt.....

damn 1-9 if we would have played USC and Mizz later
possible.

glad we got 'em early. :)

but i don't buy this notion that we were awesome at first, then really regressed after.

the truth is, if not for timing in the schedule, and a couple of plays against USCe......yikes....

like i said, was glad we won those games, but i'd be lying if i said i thought we had "arrived" at the end of the mizzou game.....we had lots of warts.

Roy Exum: Vols’ Scathing Survey

Posted in the FF. Damn. Only 60% of Vol fans think Pruitt should be fired.

That's why I just can't get that mad if they keep him. I can't blame them. How can you resist when your fan base is full of Cubs fans? Ooooh well.
Mostly Kentucky,Arkansas, Georgia State,BYU fans in that 40.

I'll cheer for the Vols next season because that's what I do, but I'm not on the Pruitt train. He has a lot to prove before I get on board that death trap again. I think it's gonna be especially hard for him to be effective in recruiting. That's gonna really hurt us.

AD is more than just football.
Order would be
Ingram
Blackburn but he’s been blackballed but should be called
Love Davis and think he could run football and be a GM but need to know more as far as AD. But he would be better than what we have now.

Right now, that's how I see it, too. It could start and end with Ingram. The Blackburn ship probably has sailed. I really like Davis. I think he would be interested, if everything aligned, but I'm not sure AD is the best fit.

A key thing to remember: the Chancellor's goal and the primary goal of counsel is to protect and defend the university. This is a deep investigation, following an internal investigation. That's two months of digging. Personnel deemed to be a legal liability to the university would have restricted responsibilities to protect the university. So I'd view all "info" through that lens.
It makes recent reports of who's doing what make more sense.

A chancellor isnt going to get fired if she follows the rules, and the football program suffers as a result. A chancellor can get fired if they knowingly skirt the rules in order to have a successful program.

Universities are, at their heart, risk averse institutions.

We're the losers, but yet we're the ones that want Pruitt gone. Last time I checked 3-7 wasn't winning. Gtfo lame ass mf. Make sure you don't ever use my name in a post again unless you @ me, loser.
Nice language there snoop dog.......makes you look so so tough tripleredd. I will crown you winner of the Internet today. Congratulations. Enjoy the warm snuggly embrace of your social convention. But please make sure you wear a hat...a head like yours needs protection.
And I am anything but a loser in real life

That's not how they do it at Bama, which is but one more reason they're good at football.

Excellent post.

if we were to make a change at AD, it shouldn't get past Ingram imo. i think Davis could be good in some type of role w/in the UTAD, for football....but not sure AD is it...

no, they don't. if nothing is being done, what are they supposed to do? stand up at a press conference and say "we're here just to let you know nothing has changed, questions?"

fulmer made a statement in the bowl release about pruitt and what the bowl would mean for him going in to 21. remember how that was received?

lol. nothing has changed, therefore, there's no need to update anyone about it. because we've made up i think 3 searches in the last 2 months, fired everyone, maybe even fired a couple of the guys we faux hired in the process, is not a reason to get up in front of anyone and say anything.

we're mad b/c the university won't tell us something about something we've made up.....and all they'd do is make you madder b/c he's probably not going anywhere right now.

they're just getting up and going to work every day. meanwhile, we're all like...

We are WAY beyond message board rumors that don’t need to be addressed. All the major media outlets are speculating on it, even Mr. Cautious, Chris Freakin’ Low is openly saying it will be hard for Pruitt to come back next year, and you can bet it is being used against us in recruiting. But sure, just pretend it’s not happening, and everyone will just forget about it.

Our offensive scheme sucks. DId we even avg 20pts a game this year? if we want to compete with the big boys i think we are gonna need an offense than can score 40 when necessary. We dont have anything close to that right now. These defensive minded guys need to realize that offenses are extremely powerful now and the whole "defense wins championships" isnt true anymore.

very well said. Another thing that has been said on here that I agree with is that for half the year for Bailey to learn the offense, but on field it looks pretty simple.

Offense is the name of the game right now. Teams are able to score a lot of points, and do so quickly. Tennessee of course being an exception. It also seems as though many of the good offensive minds can take what they have and create ways to score points. Look at what Kiffin did last year. I highly doubt that was his dream QB but he made it work. I didn’t think much of Felipe Franks either, but Mullen took him and went right to work at Florida. This is why I don’t fully buy the JG excuse, although he wasn’t good.

This is the reason I think Pruitt has to go. Not only are they losing games, but the game is offensively trending at the moment and Tennessee just seems years behind. Because of this they’re also boring to watch in addition to being mediocre. If they were losing shootouts like the 2012 Dooley team or a lot of teams now I could see reason for bringing Pruitt back. That’s just not the case. Speaking of 2012, I think people make that appear to be much more normal for Chaney when it was honestly an outlier. I don’t think he’s terrible, but I think the game has passed him by somewhat.

We have scored 40 points only 4 times during the Pruitt era. Against powerhouses ETSU, Chatanooga, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt. Even when JG threw for 415 yards, 3 receivers had 100+ yards receiving, and our RBs average 4.8 yards a carry against Mizzou in 2019, we scored 24 points. Meanwhile, our defense has allowed 40 points on 7 different occasions.

Then you're going to love CFB one-time transfers. Even worse than the pros who can at least sign rookies to 2+ years. Now it will be...play/sit just 1 year...then go to X school vying for a title.
To tell you the truth I don't see how it would be much different than it is now.

I mean how many players does Bama want... That want to be at Bama... That they don't have?

The best players play for the same handful of schools already. On top of that, I think playing time, coaching relationships, etc carry more weight than just the possibility of getting a ring.

I just don't see any evidence that the best players at mid tier schools would leave at the drop of a hat given the chance. I certainly wouldn't assume that.

100% agree. As much as it was hatred, it killed whatever little confidence I had in him. By little I mean I still thought he would fail but he might leave us in an OK spot for the next coach. But his handling of the QB postion is just like every other major DC with no HC experience. Strong made the same mistakes, Champ made the same mistakes, Kirby is making those same mistakes and Pruirt has read the book and is doing everything it says not to. Unless you are Saban and you learn to adap, defensive minded coaches don't produce offenses that win.
