Not really. We’re talking about a guy who’s had top flight defenses at three different major programs. Had a top 30 defense in year two here. I’d have to think with Pruitt, Steele, potentially Ansley being on staff that the defense should be pretty good next year.

Pruitt has stepped into a great situation at every stop he’s made as DC, and he has never had to build a defense himself. I was very hopeful at first. But I think it’s fair to start considering that Pruitt’s defensive prowess may be fool’s gold.

I posted this in the FF and thought the stats would give some perspective here about how the game has changed in just the last 5 years
thanknyiu for posting. I have had the same feeling but interesting to see the facts back it up. In the 90s and up to just a few years ago I felt the difference in the best team and a top team was not that drastic. Now even a top 5 team has no chance against the best. A&M has the same chance of beating bama as we did. None at all. Really makes for a lackluster product. Least interesting year in college football I can remember

Well when youre down double digits in the 3rd quarter most teams try to extend drives and take time off the clock. It could have been a lot worse. We had several teams have 8 minute drives on us this year. Thats a misleading stat. We were a$$

Wasn’t defending our defense, just adding context to the convo. Agree, we were azz. Team was azz.

You remember the part where his coaches wrote him off after one practice? I do, Pruitt has no clue and has handled Bailey poorly.
That was rumor that they didn’t like bailey..... Pruitt never said that in public..... sort of like all these rumors about today being the day that we are firing him.... how many of those rumors have been true? Pruitts actions showed he liked him by creating Sunday night scrimmages specifically to try and get him ready.

So Bailey was the only Freshman on the team? Nothing was created for him

Yea its wild.
in just five years we have gone from roughly 1/4 of the games being 20pt blow outs to 1/2

That’s a huge difference

Well why didn’t you go with Saban, and Dabo since you are just naming coaches.... the only coach on that list that has proven it is Campbell..... Franklin has but he just had a horrible season.... the rest were successful at a lower level besides Tom Allen and mark stoops who are far from proving it on a consistent basis.

You asked for coaches. You got them. Every single one of those coaches has been better than the last 3 we've had.

Think it’s because of changes that have made passing offense easier or the continued accrual of talent by a handful of teams to the detriment of parity across the league?

Both, neither, something else?

Just confirms that most teams aren’t playing to win games 10-6 anymore, and that our style of play is a dinosaur. I don’t think it necessarily means that we are any closer to the teams that blew us out this season than the scoreboard indicates.

If we lost Osovet it would hurt in recruiting far more than it would in coaching.

IMO Osovet and Nieds were our two worst position coaches. Not saying he couldn’t have gotten better but when Jacob Warren came out and said the TE’s we’re having to teach Osovet how to be a TE coach - that ain’t good.

I think one of Pruitts biggest mistakes is focusing too much on recruiting and not enough in coaching. He should have never gotten rid of Rocker and Rumph. Both were good coaches.

Recruiting is definitely important but so is coaching. I mean do you think everyone on Saban and Dabos staff are elite recruiters? Highly doubt it.

They weren’t trying to rebuild Tennessee.... I was meaning of coaches we might have a chance to get that are proven.... Kiffin won 5 games 2 of his past three seasons.

Product of elite talent. He has to have it. He had all season to teach his players how to cover a slant and he couldn't/didn't. He's an over rated fraud. There are zero excuses for the pathetic defense he fielded this year and prior years.

Here is cliff notes review.

in just 5 years SEC games have gone from 1/4 being 20pt blow outs to in 2020 half of them being blowouts
