Steele tried to oust his previous coach to be the head coach. It would be very Tennessee to hire him so he can try to get the head coaching job here too. It would be a disaster. I could see why Pruitt was ok with him coming, it would bury us and he would laugh with his buyout all the way to the Bama school of rejects of coaches who can’t coach good.

if that’s the case he didn’t have to do much. We all know Gus rode the lucky line for years. Beating Saban kept that line alive until it didn’t. I’m not thrilled about him being the HC but at least it’s not Marrone.

AP said Marrone is a possibility to be Bama OL coach. A poster asked if he could be OL coach at UT and AP said no, HC if he comes to Knoxville.

That’s the difference in the two programs these days.

That’s the difference between having self respect and not. That statement alone would black ball Marrone as even a possibility of HC here if I were in charge. Bama is not on some otherworldly plain. We have convinced ourselves that they are but what AP just said wouldn’t and shouldn’t even be accepted at Arky or OM. The fact that AP thinks that’s just life is symptomatic of how effed up our booster situation is.

Coaches change especially ones that have had a hard time dealing with mental issues like steele


Steele was a very suspect DC that most of us didnt want when Sunseri was hired and now he’s evolved into the best DC in the conference and maybe the best in the county. Coaches change and it’s entirely possible Steele has as a head coach.

the fact that the people that know him better than anyone else on earth wanted to hire him as their head coach over Gus says a lot to me.

Who thinks Steele is the best DC in the country?? Point to one stat or occurrence that backs that up.

The best DC in the SEC is Saban.

I mean I can do this too. Brooks said he was coming to play for Pruitt period. HB the same. Those guys transferring here mean nothing about his recruiting as a HC

HB was never going anywhere. His dad was using him as leverage imo.

Brooks has been tied to Pruitt since summer tho, can’t question his loyalty

The NCAA has been looped in. They've had full circle meetings with in-house counsel, outside counsel, compliance, admin and NCAA reps. Pruitt is on record, has been questioned by everyone with his own counsel present, and there aren't any surprises left to find unless they backtrack, which seems highly unlikely.
