If the rumors are true about Neids being in hot water and Pruitt is responsible for the actions of his staff how can you justify throwing him to the wolves for a 3-7 coach in year 3 with double digit losses to Kentucky and Arkansas?

You justify it by forcing him to draw the short straw. Fulmer will protect his pick until he has no other choice. I have no doubts that this will all be blame on another party other than Pruitt. When in reality Pruitt probably put them up to it when he couldn’t just rake in talent like Bama.

I agree. That's why I think if they're planning to transition to KS as the HC, then it won't come in the form of 'interim'. That way they'll at least have eliminated any question in regards to who's leading and it gives him and his coaching staff almost a full year to get the '22 class settled.

Truth be told, I'm not sure how differently recruits would view KS vs. JP as HC. He can point to a long successful record of running an SEC level defense and getting guys to the NFL, just like CJP can, and while his HC record is abysmal, it was also a long time ago, while CJP seems to be inventing new ways to be unsuccessful on any given Saturday currently.

KS would be a disaster. His recruiting would be worse than Pruitt and he has done nothing to prove he’s a head coach. Would be such a dumb, and so UT, to hire him when Chadwell and Herman are available

Steele can argue he’s not steering the ship into the iceberg. Pruitt can’t.

Steele tried to oust his previous coach to be the head coach. It would be very Tennessee to hire him so he can try to get the head coaching job here too. It would be a disaster. I could see why Pruitt was ok with him coming, it would bury us and he would laugh with his buyout all the way to the Bama school of rejects of coaches who can’t coach good.

In what way is Steele MORE competent as a HC? He was 9-36 at Baylor

Coaches change especially ones that have had a hard time dealing with mental issues like steele


Steele was a very suspect DC that most of us didnt want when Sunseri was hired and now he’s evolved into the best DC in the conference and maybe the best in the county. Coaches change and it’s entirely possible Steele has as a head coach.

the fact that the people that know him better than anyone else on earth wanted to hire him as their head coach over Gus says a lot to me.

(1) The NCAA gave everyone a free year.

I mean I can do this too. Brooks said he was coming to play for Pruitt period. HB the same. Those guys transferring here mean nothing about his recruiting as a HC

How would that be worse for recruiting than firing Pruitt right before ESD next season?

Because most players would hopefully be committed and you could quickly make a hire and they could relock them in. No one is committing to a year long interim.
