I don't know how to feel about this. Fulmer and Pruitt must have pissed off a lot of important people in a really short amount of time.

Pruitt pissed off people that should have been completely outside his sphere of influence. Head-scratching.

It started off with pissed off people. People wanted payback from 2018, for the payback that Fulmer got from 2008. Great times.

I would want to believe that both of these sentiments would work to keep him here but I fear Kiffin only cares about Kiffin and would be up for moving UP if he got the chance.

That is the only thing holding me back from wanting him hired. He is entertaining to watch on the field and on Twitter for sure.

What else is up? NFL? Bama/OSU/Clemson/etc? I feel like if you turn UT into what it could/should be, then you don't need to go any further "up". Also, he hasn't tried to get back into NFL at all since leaving it.

If the one time transfer deal remains tabled, he’s putting a lot of eggs into that waiver due to coaching change basket. No way it works for a SEC team so maybe Oregon/Washington?

Mike detillier works for ESPN and the saints.... was just on the Basilio show, he thinks its a good thing Manning will be in the middle of the search. He thinks of Manning makes the hire it will be a younger coach with HC experience. Guy spoke highly of Leipold and Chadwell

Peyton doesn't have to work "here" to have a great amount of influence on prospective hires. He's a Vol legend and is a huge benefactor to the cause.

It's like people don't remember Doug Dickey. They guy jumped ship to go to Florida, and a generation of Vol fans hated him for that, but we hired him as AD and he did a great job here.



Wes Rucker mentioned that they have contracts that will build in an extra year for every year the program is on probation or under sanctions.

Agree. But talking three year contracts is silly. No coach is hired with less than 5 years on his contract today. The recruits will not sign if the coach has less than that. That's why Fulmer extended Pruitt, he thought he was going to make it after the finish in the second year. They will have to give a proven coach at least 6 years now with the sanctions. Which is why some who are saying make it an interim for a year is not going to work. It tells the recruits to look elsewhere immediately not just in the current class, but the following class because they are recruited 2-3 years in advance. Those later classes would not know who the coaches were gong to be and the program will be losing at a high rate until the longterm HC/staff are hired.
