It's been mentioned that Peyton has made it known he will have input in this search
.Completely agree that he has plenty of influence. But it’s clear that there are a lot of influences at UT and they don’t pull in the same direction. Ever. Which is what is preventing us from ever getting an elite coach. Because they can’t guarantee full support from everyone.
They are like the North Dakoka St of Division III. They win seemingly no matter who the coach is.Agreed. UWW has also kept winning without him but not quite at the same level. So is it just somewhat easy to win there or did he build a juggernaut?
Some are even more blatant. People just look the other way and consider it a cost of doing business at a power program where winning grows the bottom line. UT did the same... until it was expedient to do otherwise.
Just going to say this before AP has a chance to put this on the fans and firing Pruitt. Too Too has been gone and not coming back for a while. I know AP will say if Pruitt wasn’t fired that he would have come back. Completely false.

If they go fishing and no upper tier coach bites, do you let Steele interim next season to let the smoke die down? I say that because I think that's what is about to happen. Recruiting that '22 class will be all but impossible. That early signing period hurts us yet again but you can't make a hurried hire for one recruiting class.
This search has to be an all-out effort to make every plausible P5 candidate say no. It is extremely important, more important than it has ever been, to hire a coach that has shown a track record of success as a P5 HC.He took over a UWW program that was very, very good prior to him. They were runner-up two years in a row before he got brought in as HC and got them over the hump to obviously insane success. I think he'd be an intriguing hire, but no ties to the southeast or P5 football are a major risk.
