Heard an interesting stat on the radio yesterday and I hadn't thought about it.

When was the last time Tennessee hired a head coach that had P5 head coach experience?.........

New hires better be good at doing more with less-- bc we're going to have less. It'll be interesting to see how UT handles the release requests and imminent portalers. UT generally helps players who want to leave, but the numbers are escalating. Steele has his hands full and not much help.

Which is why if you are going to fire the HC with cause, let the AD "retire", and select a new AD, you have to do it at light speed. We need a new coach by Monday/Tuesday. Not in 2 weeks.

Steele has an impossible task. If UT loses lots of players, again just shows the gross incompetence

We will see what this "FU money" brings...I am positive that it will be very unimpressive results to almost everyone with any sense....it will be more of the same plus the added burden of "Being a beacon of Integrity"...good luck to anyone recruiting with that load of self righteous hanging over your head..

Why would Lebby leave Ole Miss for the same position under a more inexperienced HC?

Not just Oklahoma he's had to contend with recruiting-wise. TAMU has that SEC draw for Texas recruits, not to mention several other good programs in state.

That's true but that state is huge. Plenty of recruits to go around and still doesn't excuse his record.

There's a few key things that need to be hammered down. How could Steele and/or Garner be "vetted" if we are not even sure of our AD, let alone coach. Steele is either going to be the HC, or they truly have a gentleman's agreement with Ingram/Gilbert and have a coaching waiting in the wings. As much as I'd love the latter, the former seems much more realistic

We actually have a President in place now with a sports background. He understands the importance. If you think for a second they haven't known for a couple of weeks they were going to fire Pruitt, you're mistaken. Also, they didn't just start "looking" a few days ago for either of these positions. They can play it as if they just received the findings over the weekend, but they've been in the loop with Glazier the whole time.

UT is the uncool kid that gets bullied. Leadership has made a mess of our program again and again and again for more than a decade. We just have to get past it. Someday we will. Until then, we're going to get picked on and ridiculed because we're an easy target. And despite everything, we still care so it gets a response... which is why the clickmeisters continue to do it.

Technically we made shirts about this that received national attention.

I’m not so sure about the BOB hype. Plowman/Boyd said they want someone to be coach for 10 years. IMO BOB will be looking for a spot back in the NFL in 2-4 years.

I can't imagine you push Fulmer and Pruitt out and then land on Kevin Steele if you are Boyd and Plowman.

It might end up there, but I don't think that's where you aim.

Like Wolken said, our leadership folded to the mob last go around.. in that case I agree that the mob was right, but that wasn't his point.. our leadership folded showing how weak it was and proceeded to put a man in charge who had no business getting the AD spot.. this is an entirely new Admin this time around so, like Wolken said, we get a chance at a clean slate..

While true I may be throwing the baby out with the bathwater the opposite can also be true. I agree new admin new chance but I can't ignore that sentiment was roughly 25% of that article. The other 75% was him gloating over UT fans getting their just desserts in his eyes and literally saying that the fan base is a toxic entity to the athletic department.

To reiterate the sentiment though I agree with the chance at a fresh start with the admin. What this university needs is a fresh start and our admin so far has at least put on a better public face than we have in the last decade or so.

Just reading the tea leaves there are only 4 people who want this job, maybe five: Steele, Chadwell, Kiffin, Freeze, and maybe Herman don't know about him. UT will not hire Kiffin or Freeze. We know this. It will not happen. So that leaves you with maybe 3 candidates. Herman has a very bad reputation for his dealings with boosters and staff at Texas. he's out.

so now we're down to two: Chadwell or Steele. They are going to hire Steele.
