Campbell is meh. Someone said earlier when arguing Napier someone good should be killing it at a smaller school and he’s far from doing that.

My bad. I thought it was all contact. BTW, got my Christmas card. Cute cats.

That was one of the PG ones. The one I sent Frank still had the cats but I was sporting a pair of Pantone 151 banana hammocks...

Matt Campbell would win here but he’s short term. Go listen to any Matt Campbell interview, this scope of this job would burn him out in about 3years.

He’s not made for the SEC personality wise. That’s the key to this whole thing. We need a proven head coach who can take the heat of the job.

Let’s start with somebody who can beat Florida and go from there. Bring me Matt Campbell.

White’s background hiring winners is great, but he’s always hired an under the radar type. Wonder if that will happen here and everyone is crushed. McGoogle, etc.
Frost wasn’t an under the radar hire. He was the OC at Oregon and was in line for a HC job soon. You aren’t gonna get a proven P5 coach at UCF

USC is a top 3 recruiting location. And the PAC 12 is pitiful. Losing 10 scholarships shouldn't excuse that 7-6 season and 3-2 start that got him fired.

It was 10 scholarships per year!! So he could only sign 15 and the NCAA let any junior or senior transfer. They only had like 54 guys at one point due to injuries. Do your research dude. The fact that he won 10 games with that much against him is elite.

What? That doesn't make any sense at all.

Iowa State is a small school but it sure as hell doesn't play in a small conference.

That's like saying Derek Mason should have killed it at Vandy because it's a small school. Maybe in opposite world I guess.

While my love for Kiffin knows no bounds, I would be really happy with an offensively minded proven winner.

My floor is Chadwell and I would be enthusiastic with that hire.

I expect to be happy and excited for some VOLS football in the coming seasons. I think that we will finally right this ship and it's about damn time.

Finding a coach for UT is totally different than finding a coach at UCF. White knows this.
You’re forced to find a hidden gem / up and comer for a school like UCF. You don’t have to, and shouldn’t have to, at UT.
Just because the UCF hires were off the radar certainly doesn’t mean a UT hire will follow suit.
He’s gonna bring in the best available coach - and the best available coach has power 5 head coaching experience.

Campbell:

Short term: takes the roster we have and is immediately competitive. Changes trajectory of the program. Recruiting doesn't fall off, might improve. Even if it doesn't immediately get into top 10 or top 5, he has a proven track record of doing more with less.

Long term: at a minimum he raises our floor a few tiers to be back to where we were in the early/mid 00's. Compete for the division for sure. Even if he averages 9-10 wins over a 5+ year period it would lay a foundation that would set this program up for years to come.

If we hire him, we are not worried about any of these coaching fiascos we have had to deal with for the past 10+ years. He is a rising star that can build a healthy, strong program. Would set us up well for the rest of this decade, and likely beyond.
