Eh, I just don’t think so. In every opening around the country, there’s a healthy mix of coordinator and head coaching options.

The only ones mandating a sitting head coach is the fanbase because we want the total opposite of Pruitt. Danny White hasn’t been given that mandate.

Agreed. He also hasn't been recently burned by a coordinator hire like we all just were. I think that's a good thing.

All of our recent hires have been the near opposite of the coach before. Like a reaction to the last mistake. And it led to more mistakes.

I'm glad somebody objective and separate from our built up emotions is making the call this time.

Hes only been the OC one year. He was a Co-OC the other years. Can't really attribute those previous years to just him. Also, he was reported to have 1 OC interview in the NFL for the dolphins. Can't find any for sure interview other than that. His name had been thrown around, but no substance.

Something to read in your spare time

Without further ado, let me put some of these questions and fears to rest: Tony Elliott calls all plays for the Clemson offense. How do I know that? When the two were announced as co-coordinators, Dabo, Scott, and Elliott all said as much in very plain language. On Sunday, Dec. 7th, just days after making the announcement that Scott and Elliott would be co-coordinators, Dabo announced that Tony Elliott would be calling plays. A few days later, in a joint press conference, Elliott discussed how he plans on calling the plays and managing the game. Scott went on to joke that he proposed they divide the play calling duties so that he could call first and second downs and Elliott could call third and fourth downs, but ends by saying that, "We figured this [Tony calling plays] was probably the best way." Tony Elliott was announced as the play caller almost immediately by Dabo. Tony and Jeff have both, consistently, confirmed that Elliott is the one calling the plays. There has been nothing said by anyone directly associated with Clemson to the contrary, so we have every reason to believe that Tony Elliott is the one calling plays for the Clemson Tiger offense.

I’d love to get Petersen but he stepped down from coaching due to stress and anxiety.

I don’t see him dealing with the SEC.

Sure but you never know what's going on in somebody's life. He could have worked through that stuff since then. Taking a break could have been good for him and now he's refreshed and ready to make a another run at it. We have no idea.

There’s no way we ponied up the money we did for the AD we wanted just to settle on a 1st time head coach. Plowman and Boyd’s comments are almost guaranteeing that. It will be a proven head coach from either college or the NFL that has proven that they can build up a program. No way it’s gonna be Elliot or any other coordinator/first time head coach. This job is too big for that. Especially right now.

You gotta consider the 2022 instate class when making the hire. CTE (I'm assuming) has a relationship with Simpson. If you reel in Simpson and Hayden they would bring a lot of the other in state guys with them.

With our current situation, we probably would have to double his current salary because of his current stable employment. He's secure there for a very long time and that's something his family has to decide. Do we give up a sure thing for an unstable position at UT?
Right, my point was that his math was a little off. 6 mil is closer to double than 7.
