In his first year, with less talent than Tennessee has.... he had Ole Miss as the number 3 offense in the nation. Regardless of what people think of him, the dude can flat out coach. He is as close to you can get to a sure thing out of the coaches that would come here. Recruiting would improve, thats a fact. Our offense would be HYPE. And even if we lost 5 games in his first season, we will be losing them while putting up 40 points on the big boys. Lane Kiffin scares teams like Bama, FL, GA. We need that right now....As much as I really don't want Kiffin, I would welcome him with open arms if it meant he was hired instead of Franklin.
Except for Kirby.I don’t understand why people do this. This is the same with Bama assistants - more often than not coaches from these recruiting powerhouses don’t do Jack **** with recruiting before or after these schools. It’s the school and bagman network that get the majority of the credit.
If it’s Elliot then I’m on board and hopeful he can replicate it here. But pointing to recruiting success at schools like Clemson, Bama, OSU, UGA, etc is fools gold.
Fleck is picking up steam elsewhere too.Bob said we’d have to miss on a few before TE gets the job. Also had this to say about Fleck, @HankHill should like this...
“I think Fleck is the real deal. I met Fleck when he was at WM. He’s energetic, extremely organized, offensive minded, and a leader. He is also an alpha unlike Butch. Butch is insecure. Fleck reminds me a lot of Dabo. He fits everything White is looking for. He’s also a great recruiter.”
I would be legit sad if we passed over Chadwell, AP Coach of the Year and Tennessee native, to hire an unproven coordinator who would only be coming here to pick up the check.
I know it's driving me and everyone else crazy with no real "nugs" coming out but it's best this is the way it's handled. Especially after the last coaching hire debacle and now the most recent debacle of the ongoing investigation and the way it's been handled. Preciate the info ya bring. Not flying doesn't mean not Zooming. Looping in all parties-- candidates, their reps, UTAD and UT reps-- in different locations puts everything on the table before it's wrapped in-person. When White flies in a private plane from an undisclosed location to another undisclosed location for an unannounced meeting at a neutral site, very few know. UT has been running this under the radar.
Guy on 104.5 they were interviewing on Friday said Tennessee zoomed with White at night. He was told the next morning to prepare because they would be in his living room in a few hours. Not flying doesn't mean not Zooming.
