I like Lane's energy, I do. I like that swagger that he brings.

However, he doesn't have a real history of being the coach that warrants that swagger. He's been fired from three of his coaching gigs; left one in shambles after only a year, and fans think he's changed and deserves another shot while asking him to leave another program after one year.

It just doesn't make sense. If you think he's changed and that's what warrants him being considered than he wouldn't take the job and leave another school after only a year to begin with. If he would, he hasn't changed, regardless of what you think about his coaching.

You've described a paradox and that's what a Kiffin hire would be. Personally I thinks it's UT's best move due to the current conditions. But because it is a paradox I think UT will avoid it.

Guy on 104.5 they were interviewing on Friday said Tennessee zoomed with White at night. He was told the next morning to prepare because they would be in his living room in a few hours.

Yep, this is the plan-- cover all the bases virtually, then do an in-person follow-up and wrap it. They do separate calls with the agent on terms and execute the MOU. Clean, efficient and hush-hush.

I think the past 3 searches make some of y’all scared, but it hasn’t even been a week since DW announced. Everything we’ve read in this thread (to include SF’s posts brought over from the FF) leads me to believe a new era has begun. I have my own favorite hope, but there’s several candidates I think will be good hires. I think our #1 target is still a possibility. That in itself is encouraging. Hopefully we start to hear something today or tomorrow. Be strong, be patient!

He benefited from Joe Burrow just like all of LSU did. Did he make that much difference for Carolina?
Carolina had one of the best offenses in the league this year with basically no QB

I’m not for hiring coordinators but if Joe Brady wants another shot at college and puts a good staff together, then sign me up. Could have the next Lincoln Riley on our hands if that happens

It's impressive for Chadwell to win AP coach of a year, but that award doesn't mean he would be successful at a bigger job.

True. However, you at least have head coaching experience and a track record to evaluate on sitting HC candidates. With a coordinator, you are projecting that they could be successful vs choosing someone that has shown they have been.

Agreed. If you're going to hire a coordinator it better be Joe Brady.

Not flying doesn't mean not Zooming. Looping in all parties-- candidates, their reps, UTAD and UT reps-- in different locations puts everything on the table before it's wrapped in-person. When White flies in a private plane from an undisclosed location to another undisclosed location for an unannounced meeting at a neutral site, very few know. UT has been running this under the radar.
As it should be.

Hes a guy that reportedly hates recruiting and doesn’t want to be a college coach

Elliot is a coach that has proven to be an elite recruiter and repeatedly turns down NFL offers and wants to stay in college.

Plenty of very important reasons to prefer Elliot over Brady

Right, which is why I think if we’re meeting with Elliott today, it’s a done deal.

Under the radar as it should be.. Regardless of who gets the job, I am so glad this is being handled the right way..

Thank you sir. 👍
