Probably BK at NDWell, I would prefer to hire a HC that would not be overwhelmed by a place like UT, but the list of those that are willing to make that move a week from NSD is pretty slim.
Beyond that, I think that no matter who we hire, the next couple of years may be rocky. And no matter who we hire, we will have to continue to cheat at some point.
Finally, I would argue that the mess we have is what it is no matter who is in charge. I don’t think the NCAA stuff is going to be resolved any time soon. I think DW has a plan for how to deal with it. I think we have some talent on the roster. I think our QB room may be the best it has been in a long time. Do we have gaps? Sure. But I think that there are a lot of coaches that could come in and get us moving in the right direction pretty quickly. I am not convinced that a G5 coach is any better prepared for that than a top level coordinator.
it is actually pretty rare for a G5 coach to go to a top program and succeed. Who is the last G5 coach to really hit it big at a power school?
Didn’t know that about Pulisic liking him, that’s good. I haven’t had time today to look more in depth about the way Tuchel likes to play, but just from his experience at PSG I’m excited. I also know that Silva is happy about being reconnected to his former manager.
Just have to gain some confidence back and see what Tuchel can install before next months return to Champions League.
It's because they've spent like 200 or 300 million on players in that timeframe and it's still not working. Chelsea in particular go through managers like crazy.
Again, with the current climate here at UT with our recent troubles this is not the place for someone to learn on the job. Especially someone from a program that would be considered "being born with a silver spoon" for lack of better words.Sweeping generalization and it implies that coordinators never go on to become successful HC (spoiler: it happens every year).
Pruitt and TE could not be more different from background to pedigree
