That's why this hire was so important. I don't think this guy will move the needle for most people. Sure you have fans that will find the positives and completely ignore the negatives and justify what the AD does. I do tend to agree people are becoming wise to it. I have maintained for years that UT takes advantage of a very loyal fan base. We keep lapping up whatever they serve. I think the big TV money has diminished the value of the fan. They make a lot more money from the TV deals than on fan attendance on Saturdays. Its allways been a spreadsheet decision for them. How little do I have to invest to obtain the maximum amount of revenue. The goals of the UT administration do not align with what the fans want.
They're acting like they don't have to hire an AD and a HC now. That's the kind of crap clueless fans talk about. There are plenty of Titans fans who think Arthur Smith wasn't that good and that our offense could have been SO MUCH BETTER. People are delusional and never happy and susceptible to all kinds of wishful, magical thinking.
I disagree. We got some guys that will be perfect for this sort of offense. Velus Jones and those young pups from last year are gonna get a lot of opportunities this season to put up big #’s.Keep in mind... we don’t have any players. This team was bad and most of what little talent we had is in the portal.
Jones never had top 5 offenses or defenses.Jones was at Tampa Bay, Rutgers, and West Virginia during his career. Heupel's been at Oklahoma and Missouri. Heupel has been riding the coattails of Scott Frost, and not very well apparently. I don't care how you spin it, Jones had a better resume AND as a HC than Heupel prior to Heupel getting hired.
He is also a MTSU graduate so definitely familiar with the mid-state and Tennessee in general. We have some really good young skill players on offense. Hopefully he brings his OL coach Glen Elarbee. The guy seems to be a great OL coach and has been nominated twice for Frank Broyles assistant coach award. Just need to nail down the defensive coaches with quality high dollar hires (i.e. NOT Randy Shannon).
