Uhhh...I agree with a lot of what you say but not this. Our Vol Twitter fans tend to be overzealous and generally have a terrible reputation outside of Volnation.
They are idiots, but he didn't just take shots at the idiots, he threw us all-in the same pot and didn't have a good thing to say about the most loyal fanbase that has been betrayed over and over again and still shows up.

The Schiano crap really pissed me off, we were right to not want that pathetic coach and more importantly pathetic human being on representing us. The fact that they were going to shove that pos on us was just another in a long line of betrayals. I was proud of it then, and I am proud of it now.

🤬 Pete Thamel and every other media hack that lives to take shots at us.

Told my brother the other day that we’ve gone from a Bruce Pearl offense dropping 100+ to a Cuonzo offense struggling for 70 seemingly overnight. Don’t get it.

I think part of it was the move to bench Bailey, he seems to do better if he's in from the tip for whatever reason. I felt the freshmen coming off the bench gave us more of a spark than either of them starting, not that they aren't good enough to start though.

Just curious, but I would like to know what he was “over the moon” and “gonna be really happy “ about.
How do you know he didn’t accurately predict events?
Maybe his opinion of this hire is just different than a lot on here and thinks JH is gonna get it done. Or Maybe not and it didn’t turn out like he thought.
If not I would be curious to what he thought was going to happen.

This lines up what i would like to know. I guess i inferred it didnt turn out like he thought because it seems JH didnt come up until late in the game. would really be interested in an AV post mortem without the need for veiled references and insider speak

I think Starting backs next year are Evans and Small, both fit this offense well.

I LOVE Cody Brown but not sure how well he fits.
I dont know how fast Perine is, but they are pretty similar sizes coming out of high school. I think Perine was supposed to be a power back coming out of high school and had 1700 yards as a FR with Heupel as OC.

Kodi Burns is a very good recruiter, and a rising star. He hasnt been at UCF but a couple weeks. He was at Auburn with Gus.
He was on the Auburn NC team from about a decade ago; was a QB and then became a WR.
So wonder what his take on Steele for DC is?

I wonder is Arik Gilbert is still a transfer possibility? I know he's missed drop/add but I wonder if he's still enrolled at LSU and plans on transferring this summer.
no clue. i checked in on his thread this morning, nothing there of note, so i'm assuming we're probably not in play. at least not at the moment? maybe checking back in spring to see what's up??

edit...bruin'd

I don't love the Matt Merritt at RB coach move.

UCF just hired Merritt three weeks ago from James Madison:

Report: UCF hiring JMU's Matt Merritt to coach RBs

JMU didn't play last season and this guy has virtually no recruiting history.

It's not like Merritt was part of the UCF machine - he has literally never coached a practice for them.

To bring him on when someone like Jay Graham was an option isn't the best move.

Jay may not have been an option lol. Trust it

Something to consider with Jay Graham is that he has never (at least from what I can tell) coached in a true Spread/RPO offense. His time at SC, TAMU, Tennessee, etc. have all be in more "pro-style" offenses and I can imagine it's a different way to coach.
That is what I was thinking, Heupel really needs everybody on the same page in order to quickly and implement his offense. We don't need coaches having to learn a whole completely different offense this year, we have a whole roster full of players that already have to do that.

Post from Volzown on VQ...

If Danny White’s first week on the job, as the new Athletics Director at the University of Tennessee, is any indication of what his tenure will be like; then hold on to your seat. While dealing with the standard procedure of taking a new position, White will also be facing an uphill battle. The looming investigation and potential NCAA sanctions stemming from accusations of illegal benefits and university comped lap dances, has White backed into a corner. Not only is the new AD dealing with salvaging a flailing football program, he is also tasked with plugging potential leaks inside of his department.

From the perspective of Vol faithful, the head coaching position on the hill, is one of the most desired in the country and speaks for itself. But does it? This search saw Danny White turning over stone after stone, in pursuit of the next man to take the reins. After a brief, yet extensive search, White turned to a familiar face, Josh Huepel. The announcement of Coach Huepel was met with mixed reviews. Part of the fan base rejoiced, other factions lit torches, and the remaining may just be apathetic. What I can tell you from firsthand knowledge, is the Vols did not chart a course to hire Josh Huepel. Through the hired search firm (The Parker Group), several sitting head coaches and prominent assistant coaches were vetted. Unfortunately, some of the most common names tossed around on message boards and around the water cooler, did not get far in the process. While others like James Franklin, chose to stay put.

When setting out on the task of hiring the next football coach, Danny White had a set criteria. After speaking with the team directly, he came up with a list of boxes that needed to be checked. From talking to some directly who have worked with/for White in the past, I am told he is very cerebral in his approach. His goal was to find the best person for the job without involving emotions; and that is what he did. While Huepel may not be the name that most of us wanted, he may be the person we need. He has a firm grasp on the offensive side of the football. We all know the stats of his teams and the productivity at the skill positions. The biggest question marks are around the defensive side of the ball. Huepel is well aware that track meets in the SEC, will not yield the desired results. Josh has been given the ability and resources to make hires to address this need, I assure you.

I know some of you are probably shaking your head and thinking that this is just more of the same. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that it is not. The current administration (Boyd/Plowman/White) is much more involved and in tune with what is actually going on. President Boyd absolutely loves this university and will do what it takes, for it to flourish.

That is what I was thinking, Heupel really needs everybody on the same page in order to quickly and implement his offense. We don't need coaches having to learn learn a whole completely different offense this year, we have a whole roster full of players that already have to do that.

I just hope it was stressed in the interview that he will need to hire a elite DC staff in order to be hired here..that’s all I want and I’ll feel better about this hire entirely.

He fits in the second half, when the opposing defense has already seen a couple hundred snaps or whatever already. Hot knife through butter.

That butch jones S**t won’t work here!..I hope someone let’s him know that... lean and small more agile OLineman/skill players doesn’t work in the SEC.this is why I’m nervous.

I mean the guy played at OU, was runner up for the Heisman, coached at OU and MO, right? He probably knows all this. I mean one of the reasons he came here might have been that he is more familiar with P5 football than he is with G5 football. jmo.

I think recruiting to UT is so overblown. I see folks here and on VQ worried about this staff being able to recruit. When hasn’t UT recruited well? I’ve been following recruiting very closely since 2009. We’ve had some bad coaches lately and how many times have we not finished in the top 25? 15? 10? 5?

Butch Jones had TWO top 5 classes. But he couldn’t develop and coach. If not for Dobbs he would have had zero success at UT.

Recruiting has been fine. You know what hasn’t been good? Developers of talent, coaches that know how to scheme for their roster and their opponents.

Our new coach has a pretty good track record of developing QB’s, scoring a ton of points and winning games. I can promise you if he does that at UT recruiting will be as good as we’ve seen in awhile.

Dang, I wish someone else had already said that...
