Reading this article it doesn’t sound like they self reported. Sounds like they got caught. They were pissed and fought the NCAA all the way. Self imposed when they knew they were screwed.

Ole Miss football learns verdict on NCAA sanctions

We self reported. There’s no investigation (for now) had we not said anything. We fired everyone. Self impose a bowl ban and scholarship reductions. Hopefully it’s enough

I believe that will make a difference. They should be more lenient to schools who police themselves.

Thanks

I’m not saying you are wrong as I asked the same question a week or so back and it was said the 85 number was the one reduced

The 85 number is easier to reduce than the 25 imo.
I would think it would be harder to reduce the 85. Say you're already full or close to full when the reductions are implemented, are you expected to take scholarships from players already on the team to meet the number?

We have seen many years where 2-3 walk ons are offered scholarships just to fill the 85.

Jmo but I think being able to sign 25 every year is much more important than getting to 85 every season

Where the heck is @Atlanta VOL

After what people said about him the night of the hire, I doubt he ever comes back on. Its a shame really. He was right about the clean slate of all the coaches and he can't control who White hires nor all the coaches who gave White a quick no. I hope he comes back one day cause I really appreciate the info he gave.

No Tee wanted to stay close to his son to see his final year/s of sports.

I believe Tee was told by Phil that he would get him a good contract for two years to help him stay close to home with his son.

In doing this, we probably agreed to pay him more than he was worth and so he took his name out of consideration for the HC jobs.

Phil screwed us, now Tee feels stabbed in the back and is showing his a**.
@Freak did you guys edit my post because I clearly posted Phil for his name.

That's what he is called by a lot of people inside and out of the program so I emphasized it using all caps so that it wasn't insinuated I was calling him fat.

When I go to edit post it shows thats what it says but when I save it the FAT part disappears.

i never came off the pessimism. im starting to think, this better ****ing work.
Or what?...you gonna get more sad and mad or notgivaisht? I don't really know what they could have done to get anybody better. Chadwell sure doesn't have a better overall resume than Heupel...so when all the others hung up on White what was he supposed to do to please you?

We're in a tight spot with this AA bullcrap, and everybody deep down knew, or everybody should have known that getting a big timer with that stuff hanging over our head was a pipe dream.

I think under the circumstances we did pretty good to get a guy with close to an top ten average offense on his resume for his career. He has to nail the DC and D staff hires, but that would be said for most of the names people wanted...including and especially their CILFs Freeze and Kiffin.

From what I hear about Danny White he is a marketing guy. All about the brand mindset. Heard he only wanted people referring to his previous program as UCF. So I bet once he gets settled he will have a slogan or something. Seems like his style.
Calling UCF UCF instead of central Florida wasn't DW. That started around 2005 i think when they rebranded from golden knights to just nights.. But yer points about him marketing the brand are correct. He wants to create an identifiable style that makes the program stand out and be easily recognized. One of his big contributions there was UCFast. Started with frost bringing Oregon up tempo offense then he picked Heupel to continue it. Heupel wasn't quite as up tempo before he got there but ended up being faster than frost was. At both Buffalo and UCF he raised money for the athletic department at exponentially greater volumes than either program had ever done before. People think he just hires coaches but that is a small part of what sets him apart from most ADs.

Palmer doing less than nothing and then going to the Senior Bowl and showing out is a red mark against Tee, not a green mark.

I disagree. If he’s showing good route running and other fundamentals he’s been coached well. The lack of production is a red mark on our offense not his coaching

Similar to Trey Smith. He was a very good productive player but reports from the senior bowl have said he’s very raw. Even said his technique was archaic. That’s a huge red mark on his coaching

He is a product of the era in which he plays. If he played in the 80s, he's be a punishing defender and would not be crying for fouls. He does it only because it works.
Possibly, but like I said he'd have to toughen up. There were a lot of very good players in that day that went quiet when they played the Pistons, Celtics etc.

@engineerVOL i just saw an update on Drew on Facebook through our mutual friend. It was written by I’m assuming your brother.

Continue to pray for y’all.

Brother, thank you. Yes, Drew had two MRIs this week on his spine and brain. This afternoon, he and his parents met with the radiologist and oncologists and got news we were all hoping for... there is the slightest indication of shrinkage. It’s a nasty cancer and it looks like it took a hit. We will take this small victory today. Thanks, @volatil.

Yeah..... I have never understood the hate for insiders..... we all crave info and should judge on our own who we trust and ignore who we don’t....the best insiders are still typically getting at least second hand info and are not sitting in on negotiations....the most ridiculous I ever saw was skeeter.... it was obvious he was close bc he was almost 100% right.... he missed one time on a guy that told coaches he was coming.... our fans chased him all over the board ridiculing him.

I think we like those insiders as long as they are telling us what we want to hear. But when they are wrong or we don't like what they way, then the flamethrowers come out.

We have ran off quite a few.

Reducing the 85 wouldn't really be a punishment unless it was a huge number like 55 or 60. But that goes too far for player safety reasons. Who cares if you only have 70. No teams ever play 70 players.

Again - the self reporting is generally handled as a summary disposition. UT, Glazier and the NCAA are all looped in early. Glazier will provide recommendations on sanctions based on past NCAA rulings for similar offenses. The final report with self-imposed sanctions is then presented to the NCAA to follow-up on. Speeds up the process and the settlement of issues if schools are open and honest about the infractions.

I wish folks would realize that if we had been caught by the NCAA doing what Jeremy and crew did, the sanctions would have been far worse and damaging to the program. It would taken a long time, cost a lot more money, and the sanctions would have been worse IMO. Odds are that we would have been caught based on how open they were with it.
Bullcrap...UGA and Bama are do this same stuff openly and brazenly and nothing will ever be done about it. It is a load of rigged 🐂💩
