You don’t have to improve but 6-4 is a major decline from 12-0. I have never said anything about my wealth nor will I. If you are envious of other peoples positions in life then work harder and make better career decisions.
As much as i like to win now, realistic goals should be to stabilize the program and try to have the pieces in place for a run by year 3 same as most coaching changes.Right now we just kind of need safe. We’d all love that ‘98 feeling... but damn I just want to not get smart ass comments every time someone sees the Power T on my hat or Jeep etc.
I think at worst, CJH gets us some exciting offensive games, gets some guys drafted, has us win some games we maybe shouldn’t. Upset uga and uf occasionally.
Beav, UCF had 10 players opt out due to covid, suffered some injuries from key players and lost 4 games. You don’t have to improve but 6-4 is a major decline from 12-0. THANK YOU. 15 points from going 9-1.Beav, UCF had 10 players opt out due to covid, suffered some injuries from key players and lost 4 games.

With all that was going on, I don't think you can say they regressed in 2020
What other data points do you have that gives you optimism???? News flash, every team was impacted by Covid. If COViD was just in Florida then I agree about the anomaly but that just isn’t the reality. You are trying to draw a trend from too small a sample size which is itself misguided. Especially considering that the major plot point you are relying on is from an anomaly covid year. You can look at Alabama in 2009 and 2010 and say the same thing, but you'd be wrong as shown by a larger set of data in the years that followed. Give Huepel time. Neither you nor I know how he'll do here, so stop pretending your cherry picked data proves anything.
All these people would have died over James Franklin when he was 4-5 in an average big ten are hating on a 6-4 coach who is 28-8 as a head coach. Freaking Volnation. Every coach is a gamble unless they are Saban or Urban. But this is the best hire we have made since Kiffin and Kiffin is all about offense too. Get it together people.
I believe the same was said when Kiffin went to USC, and then he got fired on a tarmac. We could very well suck, but I doubt we see another coaching search so soon. The NCAA violations will be used as an excuse to put it off. I have no idea if JH will succeed or fail, but he'll be given a longer rope to play with because of any sanctions we receive. If he struggles at recruiting, we'll be told it's because of sanctions. If he struggles on the field, we'll be told it's because he doesn't have the players because of sanctions. The truth is, this may turn out to be another crap hire, but maybe a crap hire is what we should expect when you combine the toxic atmosphere of the last 15 years with NCAA trouble. None of the big time coaches want to come here. We need to face that reality.
I don’t think you can judge any teams during the covid season whether it was better than espected or worse than expected. What other data points do you have that gives you optimism???? News flash, every team was impacted by Covid. If COViD was just in Florida then I agree about the anomaly but that just isn’t the reality.
F for Lyle ? Well hell could have told them that.
Make sure they call us before they hire Pruitt. He'll get a dropped/incomplete.
Based on the market P/E or QE stock inflation?I will say this, as one who has been investing for over 45 years, winning some and losing some. I seriously expect a major market correction in the not too distant future, so I would be cautious putting too much in the market right now, and wait for a better opportunity. Just my opinion and that's my disclaimer.
The longer we go without offering a DC the more I feel like it’s going to be Steele. And that would be a pretty dang good hire in my mind. Steele could bring a dang good defensive staff with him as well.
He will struggle to challenge App State, Coastal and Napier at ULL. AState has problems with recruiting. The state of Arkansas has basically no FBS prospects and those they do have attend Arkansas.I think Butch could do pretty good at Arkansas State. They’re paying him $850k/year plus incentives. He has a $2m buyout but I think he’s trying to restart his career. Our severance pay ran out last year.
I’m not sure what his career trajectory is, probably from A-State to some ACC, B1G, or B12 school. I don’t think he ever comes back to the SEC. I think the job here was just too big for him. I think the job here is perhaps too big for most coaches. I think Butch lost control of the job here and I think that is a flaw in his character, not so much moral, more like fortitude. jmo.
I watched his introductory press conference but skipped a lot of his answers to questions because he’s as long winded as ever and it’s mostly all coach-speak. He didn’t really talk about Tennessee other that thanking Saban for accepting a rival coach into his organization back when we fired him.
He said he thought he improved as a coach by working for a defensive minded head coach. Also said A-State had the best facilities and best football program in the country. Said he had 972 text messages since his hire had been announced 4 days prior. I thought that was vintage Butch.
In most ways he was the same old Butch but I’ve always thought he was a smart man so I do think he’ll likely do good there. Of course he’s in the conference with Appy State and Coastal Carolina so it may not be in his first year. Time will tell. I was never fond of his personality but I'm glad I've reached the point where I can genuinely wish him well. jmo.
