SEC payments will cover some of the shortfall, and the university will loan UTAD any remaining funds needed to balance the budget through the next fiscal year. UT is well-funded. Juggling funds is a stopgap until the new TV revenue starts in 23-24.

Just in time for our NCAA sanctions to be done and then a new coach!

I’m not buying the potential difficulties in recruiting.

If Heupel can put an exciting product on the field this year, then he can pull Simpson.

If he can pull Simpson, then he’ll have a really good chance at pulling the bulk of the instate talent this year.

If he can pull the bulk of the instate talent, then he will have a top 12, maybe top 10 class.

If he continues to improve on the field, then recruiting will only get better. Win games and Tennessee sells itself.

If you get Neyland rocking, the recruits will come.

The geek in me wanted to rewrite your post as computer program with nested IF/THEN statements.

The more I think about this hire the more I believe it is really safe. I don’t know if Heup will ever win titles. He’ll have to recruit very well for that.

But I do feel it’s a safe hire. He is always going to have a good QB. Everywhere he has been he has developed QB. He’s scored points with back up QB’s and with freshman QB’s. This dude can coach QB’s. Everywhere he’s been they have also had a top offense. This is a high floor hire if nothing else.

If you have a top performing QB and offense every year you’re going to win a lot of games. If the defense is good you’re gonna win even more.

There are many different parts to CA, and the Bay Area, LA, OC and SD are not at all the same. People who don't like CA don't live there, and people who love it don't want to live anywhere else. TEHO.

I have been to Irvine a few times years ago, and also to Hollywood, many years ago, and I loved it. The weather was unreal. The people were mostly really nice, and really happy. I can't say that I love the politics of much of the State, but somehow I think I could work around that, if the rest of my family lived there too.

We aren’t going to sniff the top 10 in recruiting for a long time and the coach doesn’t matter.
It’s because of the NCAA mess.
Coaches will use it against us in a serious way and we won’t be able to operate anywhere close to the Gray areas of the rules.

15-25 type classes the next 5-7 years

All these people would have died over James Franklin when he was 4-5 in an average big ten are hating on a 6-4 coach who is 28-8 as a head coach. Freaking Volnation. Every coach is a gamble unless they are Saban or Urban. But this is the best hire we have made since Kiffin and Kiffin is all about offense too. Get it together people.

Right now we just kind of need safe. We’d all love that ‘98 feeling... but damn I just want to not get smart ass comments every time someone sees the Power T on my hat or Jeep etc.

I think at worst, CJH gets us some exciting offensive games, gets some guys drafted, has us win some games we maybe shouldn’t. Upset uga and uf occasionally.

That’s how I feel..... I want to have fun going to games again.

Oh I'm sure OU told them to not worry it will be passed soon...of course if it isn't those kids will just be left out hung to dry...
They can apply to the NCAA for a waiver for immediate eligibility due to the coaching change and potential NCAA punishment. It's happened before.

I’ve got 2 thoughts I’ve been milling around in my mind for a bit and I’m coming to the conclusion that they may work together:

1) with bad decisions and bad outcomes from the highest levels, Tennessee is at this point going to have to luck into a great hire. This is fairly self explanatory, but the fact is we’ve (Tennessee administration) dug ourselves into such a hole that big names aren’t willing to risk their reputations on something that’s not as passionate to them as it is to us as fans. At this point we have to hope that an underwhelming hire catches lightning in the bottle and we get back to prominence in a way we least expect.

2) Forget about recruiting as being our savior. We just had a great recruiter as a coach and a all star SEC staff known for recruiting. Didn’t work. At this point what has to happen is we bring in a coach who puts a special product on the field that kids want to be a part of. When that happens, kids will come. No slogans, no BS sales pitch on saving the program, but exciting, winning football.

That’s where I believe we are and I pray that CJH is that guy. We won’t know until little people on our television set play each other. Here’s to the future 🥃

Cheers.
