First chink in my impression of Dan White’s armor IF these accounts are true. I understand the emphasis on diversity, but ultimately you back the HC you hired’s hand. This is micromanaging on a Pruitt scale and rumbles of Randy Shannon at UCF.
He hired Randy Shannon for Heupel. That's a fact.
I'm not saying we know for sure this is happening here - we don't know it to be true, but past evidence says it *could* be.
But here would be my retort to your statement that Heupel wouldn't take the job if it were true:
1) $4M goes a long way, and we gave him a very long deal.
2) He was one subpar season away from being on the hot seat at UCF - especially with a new AD in town.
3) It does not have to be contentious that the AD wants a say on the construction of the football staff.
Is it a fact that DW hired Shannon for Heupel or did he bring the two together and Heupel retained the ultimate decision in the matter? I've seen nothing out there to suggest that scenario one happened over scenario two.He hired Randy Shannon for Heupel. That's a fact.

More alarming to me would be if LA's post a few days ago about the diversity hire initiative indicated that this decision was being driven by those above White. Perhaps White was charged with making a diversity hire at the coordinator, if not the HC, level by his superiors. Maybe this is being driven to appease some of the non-athletic leaders within the University, maybe this is all bunk if not just a reach. But there is at least some circumstantial evidence that could support it. Combined with the history of academia meddling and BVS, it's just sort of how we can assume the worst.
Just curious, how is him hiring Shannon "a fact?" That's kind of what I do, deal in facts. Is there something out there about it? Or, are we dealing in message board facts. Just asking.
