The Rock just seems like a genuinely good dude
He really is an awesome guy. When the little feller told us his wish, none of us thought it would happen. Like I said, it literally blew my mind that he would do it.

I wasn't there when he came and visited him at the hospital, but my sister and brother in law were. Sadly the little guy passed away a few weeks later. 😢

I'm not a regular poster on the PF by any means. I have been reading the site since around 2010 and never posted until 2014. I think most people are like me.....bored. I post silly stuff that I know some may not care for and I understand that but I also hope if they read some of my post from the past they can tell that I am a VOL fan and have been all my life. I also hope they know I mean to bring nothing but a little off beat humor in a time when humor is hard to find for so many and as soon as I can get back to some form of normal I will drift back to the my world and only pop in during the season or to see the goings on before it gets here like I always have. That is my hope anyway.
You're doing a great job bud----keep 'em coming :):)

I doubt it gets brought up again for a while..soon will be favorite movie lists week, then favorite alt rock week, favorite classic rock week, favorite "real" country week..etc etc etc..interspersed with MJ vs LBJ arguments, BBQ and dog fart discussions..it's what we do..
It’s the Living Room of the Recruiting Forum. Take a seat and use a coaster.
Look..this particular thread is more like a watering hole, or a family get together in the offseason than it is a football information dump.

Allman Brothers were the best Southern Rock band of all time. Trying to start something.
They were great. Saw them live a couple of times. Skynard for me though. Got to see them once live before the plane crash.I'll never forget the following year when the surviving members played Free Bird at the Volunteer Jam joined by Charlie and a few others I can't remember. It was great.

I got one cool story about a Wrassler that I meant to tell the other day...or well actually he is just a massive superstar at this point.

We had a young extended family member a few years ago that was dying of cancer, and his greatest hero in the world was The Rock, and it was his wish to meet him.

Somehow they got word to the Rock about his wish, and he took the time to fly to Georgia to meet the kid before he died. It still blows my mind that he cared enough to do it.

I also worked in Hulk Hogans home in Clearwater several times. He and his buddy Brian Knobbs are really nice guys, and were always really cool to us...his ex-wife Linda however is a complete and utter beyotch..

Cool stories over..

Who is the villain in this story. In rasslin' there's always a villain. It's a good story. The point is that there has been some arbitrary activity in this thread this week a gang of rasslin' fanatics were the ring leaders.

Saw Skynyrd once before the crash. Saw a later version of Allman Brothers after the wrecks. Still dang good.

Another point about molten salt reactors is that extra heat held in the salt enables you to run super critical co2 turbines rather than conventional, a much more efficient way to produce electricity. It could also desalinate sea water at say coastal african nations, pipe to interior to grow crops etc.

If designed right, the inner reactor chamber gets hot enough to expand a little, slowing down reaction, contracts, starts again. Self regulating way to prevent meltdown if salt flow stopped cooling it. With secondary dump chamber underneath as backup. These are no bigger than a tractor trailer in principle

Seriously, I am in. Can you please build me one? Can I be off the grid with it?

BB gun and bottle rocket/Roman candle wars; tackle football and “pick up - smear” (the PC name of the game); exploring the woods, caves and creeks; drinking from the hosepipe; building forts; riding bikes all day long....man, childhood/adolescence in the 80s was incredible. Amazingly, no broken bones in my childhood.
I played my last game of pick up tackle football at age 23. I made tackles all over the field and scored a couple of touchdowns. I thought I did quite well. The next morning I could hardly walk. I was in good shape. I decided then and there, no more tackle for me

At least a dream came true for the little guy before he passed.

I saw Skynyrd several times in the 90s. My favorite show I saw was when they recorded their show "One more from the Fox" in 93 at the Fox theater in Atlanta. We had third row seats...it was awesome.

Edit: I can't believe I spelled Skynyrd wrong, had to fix it..🤦‍♂️

A few months back, I watched a concert on one of the cable channels featuring Dickie Betts and his current band. He looked kinda bad and I thought his vocals were terrible. His son is a fine picker and pretty good vocalist though.

Every few years I reply to a post like this to remind the board of a theory that, as far as I know, I originated.

When establishing the states and their entitlements, Texas and Tennessee were both allotted two stars. When we had to go reinforce their asses at the Alamo, we took one of their stars for our trouble.

I absolutely love this. I am constantly teaching texas folks why they owe their statehood to Tennessee. This is perfect. They always fall for whatever I tell them.

One of my favorites is that Tennessee graduates fought at the Alamo (as to why we’re the real UT). I say it solemnly and with conviction. They look embarrassed that they didn’t know...but what do you expect, they have a cow as their mascot...🤠

I'm with you but it's the only one we have. I just look for the good and don't pay attention to the bad. That's the main reason I stopped watching the nightly news. It's all bad
Yeah...my wife had the ABC nightly news on earlier, and I just started gritting my teeth while trying to ignore it while reading..lol.
