I don't know why "class" has to be determined.

As a high school senior, he chose us over Alabama because he liked his fit in the scheme (which both schools shared) and decided his path to playing time was much quicker in Knoxville.

When the coaches who recruited him were fired, and the scheme totally changed, he decided to go elsewhere. It's not a surprising decision. We've benefitted from these same decisions in the past - Cade Mays comes to mind.

Of all things, I'm actually surprised Alabama had a spot for Henry. The rumor mill had been swirling that he didn't have a spot and he was going to land at Ohio State.
He quit before he even knew what scheme would be utilized.

And all that's fine. The problem with most is the lack of seemingly competitiveness and all the high fives from our current players. Like it or not, that wasn't something that would have happened a few short years ago. Do I expect them to trash him on social media? Absolutely not! But I don't expect them to swing from his jock strap either. It does indicate a lack of pride in your team. IMO.

Yeah, hell shoot the dude a text "best of luck man" but when you throw it on Twitter you're trying to say something to someone else.

As a sport's figure, like it or not that's where you're communicating to the fans of the team you play for.

Teammates don't care and apparently the fanbase on here doesn't either. Apathy is real

THIS IS REALITY.

Flip the roster.

How much of that do you actually believe though? I think he went to the highest bidder and that line of credit was severed so his dad made him go to the next highest bidder.
I'm not sure I totally believe that. At least I don't believe it in comparison to how other schools pay top players. If Henry had stuck around in Knoxville, I think he would have found it very "lucrative" to do so. And I'm sure he'll have no problem in that department at Alabama.

I guess I understand the angst, but if injected with truth serum, I'd say most of our guys are just happy to see their friend go to a program that wins a lot of games. There is a lack of pride - and that didn't start this year. It doesn't mean our wins and losses are due to a lack of pride.

Players now days, in all levels of sports have a platform in social media and some use it for good, some for bad and all for some type of attention. They crave the spotlight and twitter is the easiest way to get it. They use it for a cause, they use it to judge how much "love" they are getting from a fan base and they use it to express opinions that in the past were either said face to face, on the phone, to the media or not at all.

For some reason so many think everyone cares what they think and more times than not most people don't really care at all about their opinions but only about how they perform. I think in so many cases athletes and many other higher profile people have been told they are great for so long when the attention fades they feel a need to have the light shine on them again and twitter is the switch.

You're correct it didn't start in a year, but can you be a winner without Pride?

in this new culture of AAU and fall camps, etc.. players don't hate other schools anymore. Especially here where we've gotten our teeth kicked in by alabama every year since I was 10 years old (now 24.) Most fans my age don't care about Alabama, and chalk it up as an automatic loss.

For me I guess I'm more pissed at the in-state kids that bailed on us than Henry T.

Granted they went to OU or other non in conference Rivals so I guess that helps soften the sting.
This^

Key Lawrence and Eric Gray bailing to OU makes me more angry than HT, who never really seemed a Vol and accepted the largest check, leaving. The only think that puts HT close to them is where he went.

Wonder what kind of pride Matt Campbell has instilled in them Iowa State 2 stars?

I guarantee if an ISU player transferred to Oklahoma, a lot of players would publicly wish him well. It's not a Tennessee issue, it's a sports culture issue. Players are a lot closer today because they all go to the same 7on7 camps and All-America games. The only schools that I can see still having that us vs the world mentality are the Alabama's, Florida's, Clemson's, etc. Meddling mediocre schools like us or Iowa State don't roll that way.

None of this matters

For those making a big deal about this being a Tennessee culture thing. Here is a picture of Jameson Williams’ Twitter feed after he announced his transfer from Ohio State to Alabama.....the person congratulating him is Chris Olave (2022 potential first round pick from OSU).

Does anyone think that Ohio State is having trouble establishing a winning culture right now?
