Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

Yeah we're close enough to football season that at this point I usually check out a bit. Recruiting isn't typically that crazy in summer, spring ball is over and you're just hoping not to have too many players get in trouble with idle hands.

Sucks about Salter, disappointing as hell actually after the way volnation rallied behind his family.

Maybe you haven’t heard the news - they’re all gone! While new staff is here. Time to be hopeful
I’m trying but it feels like all the news I read even since then has been negative
Butch did that to me. I was numb by the time Pruitt kicked me in the nuts.
Lmao. My family were season ticket holders my entire life until 2017. I’ve had basketball season tickets since then, gonna try for baseball. But football is too expensive to keep buying them when the product isn’t great

How do I get excited for football? I haven’t paid attention to anything going on with our football team since the coaching search. I’m just not into it. But it’s gonna be real boring if I just check out until November when basketball starts
For you. Shangri la for the rest of us. Every time there’s an incomplete pass, there’s C-Lowe back on the ledge. 😴

I was talking about Leath. I was not even aware of Joyce. Will Joyce be on the roster in 2022? I think I read Leath is likely to get drafted, but may be getting the two mixed up.

In the baseball forum, I am pretty sure that preacherman (Kirby Connell's father) said that Joyce would be back.

Meh. I don’t lose my **** over games. Or plays within those games. At least until it implodes like it did in 2012, 2017 and 2020. 2005 and 2008 were before my time here on VN

You contrive drama and fake angst wherever it’s available. Your special gift. Be nice to have an offseason from it.

In better basketball news....

Kennedy Chandler, Huntley-Hatfield, Aidoo and Justin Powell have all impressed over the last month but that Chandler is just on a different level than his classmates and looks as good as advertised.

Chandler doesn’t have a perfect record when the team splits up and plays five-on-five but we’ve been told whichever side he’s on wins the overwhelming majority of the time.

One program insider also told us recently that Chandler is the most mentally tough player the Vols have had since Grant Williams left and that even as a freshman he’s capable of taking whatever Rick Barnes throws at him without it affecting his attitude or effort.

Gary Parrish said this week that Kennedy Chandler will win whatever he plays. He may be on the small side, but he will be a winner at UT and in the pros. This was in response to the report that the USA U19 team is down to 19 players for a 12 man roster. Parrish said, "I'd keep Chandler on that team because he will win." I loved hearing it on MEMPHIS radio.

Last year really took the life out of it for me
I’m done with deep diving recruiting for now. Terrible investment of my time for the enjoyment I receive from it. None of these dudes have been the savior. I will be there for every game (TV) and excited, but I’m not investing outside of it

I just don’t have the time anymore. When I was in college I was really into it, basketball, baseball and football. Now I don’t follow it outside of basketball just because it’s easier to keep up with. I remember thinking Ke’Bryan Hayes was the savior of our baseball program way back when. Then he went straight to the minors and we sucked for years to come lol. This was the Serrano era though

It sucks for his family----his dad spent a ton of time in the hospital and by all accounts was pretty bad off with Covid. I'm happy Volnation stepped up big to help his family out but I don't give a rats a$$ about Salter. He's obviously very immature and will probably be a drain on society unless he gets his sh^t together.

That’s a bit extreme for a guy who loves weed and doesn’t understand that loving it in the south comes with consequences. I knew plenty of guys who couldn’t stop smoking weed no matter how much trouble they got in with their parents or in some cases the law. They got it together when they got older
