I’m not that disillusioned. The problem is our biggest rivals are the biggest cheaters and winners in the country, and there aren’t 25 other games to offset that like there are in basketball. We’re guaranteed 3-4 losses per year no matter what we do for the foreseeable future.

True. Need to win the rest for sure

I’m not sure I agree. I agree you can’t win titles that way, but you can build the program up that way. Spurrier did it at USCe. Petrino at Arkansas (pre affair). Mullen at Miss State. Franklin at Vandy. Heck, Kentucky has had some nice years with mediocre talent. Mizzou won the East twice. The list goes on…

I’m convinced after 13 years in the wilderness, this is the only path Tennessee has.

Super coach ain’t ever coming and super recruits aren’t joining a losing program with NCAA sanctions coming.

We get sanctions for paying recruits, but we are about to pay kids anyways....maybe the NCAA will just forget it 🤣🤣

You’re probably right. But all those teams benefitted from a weaker SEC than today, and don’t have the rivals that we do. South Carolina had their run when Florida, tennessee and Georgia were all mediocre-bad. Same with missouri. Arkansas benefitted from no Saban

That’s a great idea but unfortunately that’s not how you consistently win at a high level (football especially). Not very encouraged by the future of the football program after hearing what you’ve had to say the last few posts.
We need to make it be fun to be a vol again….. This style of play can do that and the nil can get kids paid….. I have 100% faith that DW will get this done.

Hahah. That is true. Idk. Just hard for me to imagine us or anybody winning in this league with “integrity”. Hope I’m wrong.

I want to win fast, too. I'm sick of losing and seeing UT ridiculed, and it totally sucks how the past few years are impacting recruiting. I just think it's going to be a longer road back.

But basketball and baseball are looking good, and we're getting better facilities-- though, again, not as fast as we'd like.

It was hard for you to imagine Vitello returning and you were wrong about that…so you have a good head start.

I hope they at least fast track expanding seating in LNS. otherwise season ticket renewal will be a sh*t show

They had two phases left in the original four-phase plan, but they're reprioritizing and will move forward with a revised plan. Capacity will be a focus, but how they're going to expand seating and in what order is going to have to be worked out. It involves a lot of different parties. Working through specifics has slowed down the execution of Tony V's contract.

It's nothing new. I've been saying it for months, and Randy/John/Donde/Danny and everyone on the board say the same thing every time they speak publicly. UT is going to rebuild "the right way" and win with people of integrity and character. They have a uniform message, and so far, they've been sticking to it. They've asked the coaches what they need to win, and that's what UT is providing-- time, support, facility upgrades and staff compensation.
Football isnt going to be good unless they let coaches "play ball" like the other schools do. I guess mid tier in conference is ok

That's not how UT sees it. They see it as rebuilding the right way with players who demonstrate the right character. They feel like they have coaches who can do this in the marquee sports, and they want to give them the resources (including time) for that. That's why you're seeing all the contract extensions and earmarks for facility upgrades.
Not gonna work in the SEC. High character 3 stars only going to get us so far. Bye bye regularly competing with Bama FL UGA ever again.

I think it sounds refreshing. I'm tired of five stars and four star rosters playing like ass for UT because of the crappy coaching and carousel we have been on. Time to think long term and take our lumps.
Agree. Win and better players will come anyway. Science.

The basketball model is the way to go. Barnes only landed 3 star nobodies. Then he won with them and put them in the league. Now the 5 stars are lining up to come here. Do the same with football
