Folks - you cannot have it both ways. There are some losers on the roster who needed to go. There have been some guys who think they are more than they are after helping Pruitt get fired. It's always better for the new broom to sweep clean than to leave trash piles in the floor and try to figure out what may be usable. We saw first hand what happens when that is not done over the past dozen years.

The previous roster guys that work hard, show an aptitude for the new system and respond to the staff well will get the same opportunity as the guys Heup signs. But it will be a one mission, one focus team at that point. Everybody else needs to exit, they don't need the distractions. Clear the decks so you know where to focus recruiting.

More or less how 247 explained it. It's about discipline and accountability and some of these guys weren't putting in what they should've been/what's being required.

That's just plain sad all the way around. I can't even comprehend how someone a mere 10 or so months from a potential million dollar payday can just roll over and not give 100%. It's mind boggling really. And meanwhile you'll have guys like Dayne Davis or Paul Bain, from the past, going above and beyond to make himself and the team better, and yet may never even get a look from NFL scouts. But at least they can look back saying they gave their all for themselves and their team. These other cats are only cheating themselves and sadly won't realize it for another few years.

Far from tax free. Same as acedemic scholarships. Costs beyond tuition and related expenses are taxable - namely room and board and stipends for athletes, IRS doesn't care if you have an academic or athletic scholarship. If it isn't for tuition or books, taxes are due.

I'm pretty sure I have never heard of Student-athletes paying taxes for athletic dorm and school supplied food.
