Not saying that…saying they are both worthless parasites.
The NCAA is merely an association created by universities for rulemaking, enforcement, and such. They're the ones that never wanted kids to be paid. But even without that facade of amateurism, they still want a rulemaking body. Call it the NCAA, call it the SEC office in Birmingham. Won't matter, it's still universities organizing and legislating themselves.

Whatever they would replace it with would be equally as corrupt. Probably moreso now.

Some of these kids are going to realize they aren’t really worth what they think they are... Star athletes like Trevor Lawrence, Tebow, Clowney, Reggie Bush, etc. would have been rolling in the cash but these 3rd stringer pineriders aren’t worth a fist full of pocket lent and some loose change. College sports have potential to be ruined. The big schools will just literally pay even more than they do to get players. I can see it now. Kid “makes a brand” boosters of said school promise “x amount” of purchases of merchandise, marketing opportunities, etc. to get said player to school. Saban owns some Mercedes dealerships. Throw a few kids in a commercial get demo car to ride around etc. going to be an absolute mess.

Hopefully UT will be right there with them

Hope so... i THINK we can at least be comparable. Kinda hate it for some of the smaller schools feels like this will basically eliminate a “middle class” of schools. You’ll either have the fan base and finances to compete or you’ll be cellar dweller. Fortunately UT has a massive fan base and could do well with this. Group of 5 schools will probably be killed. Especially in basketball. Creighton for example signs some 4 stars has decent recruiting but a following isn’t huge. Why do those kids have any incentive to go there when they could make more money going to a school that has a bigger following and better plan in place. Even if that school doesn’t have as good of “program” as Creighton. Just an example. Will be interesting to see how it unfolds. I personally think SEC will benefit even more. It gives teams like UT potential with the fan base and brand we have to a recruiting pitch to some truly high level players.

Something to think about. Starting tomorrow recruiting a high school Senior or Junior for that matter, not only do the Coaches have to sell the school, program, team and culture but now the potential financial benefits for the player their parents and in many cases the handler/agent that they have. Something else I have not really heard an answer for is if a individual and or their families or handler/agent is being paid what type of tax will they be required to pay on the income they will be receiving. Everything sounds good on the front in but it's the fine print that I don't think has been explored by many of the ones receiving the money.

So how many recruits/players will get endorsement deals from Pilot Oil/Flying J? Imagine UT players likenesses at every station in TN and elsewhere promoting one merchandise/food item or another.

This scenario is what is going to occur. Schools with the biggest donors will reap the benefits. Just “legalizing” the payments that go on now by calling it endorsements. Let’s see how this plays out.

I've had a few extra SKITTLES so I'm a little chatty so humor me please. A large group of people are consumed with the Star Rating system for players. Now with that being said, a player as far as I know is rated by their on field talent and the recommendations of their coaches.

Now if a kid is a 5 star player but has a 1 star work ethic and or attitude and not that good in school is that figured into the rating at any point. Or if they are a 3 star kid that has a high ceiling and a great work ethic, attitude and great grades does that figure in. If those criteria were used how many of the players ratings would rise or fall. Asking a coach in many cases is useless because they like to think they could become a pipeline and or buddy to a college recruiter anyway, it makes some feel special and makes for a good conversation piece at a booster meeting.
