Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

CFB as I know it is watching a bunch of orange P151 clad players running out every Saturday and playing football. All this behind the scenes stuff won't change that any more than the forward pass, integration, the BCS, the playoffs, transfers, or stipends did. It's still Vols playing in the Fall. All I care about.
Yeah, but we are not going to know on a weekly basis who is all in and playing for the team in P151. Seriously, think of last year after the GA game if other teams would have started recruiting our players away with deals. Could have already been happening with just promises to come play for a playoff team. But between this and free transfer, it could make recruiting high school players by boosters in the south look tame. What a major distraction this could be for the players. Better get the money now because NFL is not promised. Then again maybe it's just a few deals for a few players on the team, and life goes on.

You watch the NFL? I think CFB officially becoming minor league professional football is going to change the product significantly. Could be wrong though.
I do quite a bit, though didn't grow up with a local team and refused to adopt that Georgian team down south. Always liked the Bills and Niners though, guess because they were both good growing up.

I have no idea why this investigation is dragging on this long. Only thought may be that now this NIL rule passed, the NCAA will not be able to severely punish schools that were caught paying players in McDonalds bags. Either way, it needs to wrap up today.
Maybe we're trying to put ourselves in a better position...NCAA's power stripped so we sanction ourselves with getting rid of everyone which results in losing many players, some scholarships and a bowl game ...and all this for something that is now legal for everyone even though everyone was already doing what we were doing.

NiL and schools paying players are completely separate issues. Even if they were the same, these things aren't retroactive.

Anyone hoping the NCAA will look at NiL and stop investigations may have not seen the recent rash of punishments coming down. I'm surprised it's taking this long too though...or not...the NCAA is far from quick moving.

That said, with all the shiz swirling around them, I expect they are severely understaffed to handle all the storms right now. That ends in a couple different routes - they either cut corners and expedite with limited manpower...or this thing drags out a much longer time than what is normal.

True and good points. It's impossible to know, but I'm an optimist and CFB has had so many hurdles in the past and here it is essentially the same as always.

Maybe a good time to start caring less about the behind the scenes stuff and player movement. Did it for my first 30 years on earth and, if anything, it was a lot "easier".

I liked the Niners because of the cool name and Joe Montana. After he retired I watched just Tennessee players. Tried to like the Titans, but they never really did anything to make me want to put forth much effort even with McNair and George.

Hoping they just agree to what we self impose. Because the NIL even though different from boosters paying players is going to be basically the same thing in a different, legal form. Because boosters will just be rerouting that money through businesses. Maybe getting tax dollars from it will make everyone happy. 😂

True. We're going to have to ignore all the reports of who has what contract and how AL, GA, etc. are doing better than us. And all the rumors about who is trying to steal away our star players that will set us back when we are finally catching up. Just show up for the games and support the players that are here when they are here. Support them after if they finish here.

😂 Just thought of something. Cat is going to have so much to be worried about what might happen.

Wonder why no one knows much about him? Did Covid stop him from playing last year?
No idea, but you may be on to something. MaxPreps doesn't list a 2020-2021 season for him.

Not sure if either he or Jackson would be ok with a 2-QB class, but he sure looks like a diamond in the rough...and a local kid, so maybe willing to sit some too.

😂TY for trying to talk football recruiting!

Coffee is terrible. Used to drink it by the gallon out of necessity.

More of a tea dude myself these days after seeing y'all post about it, especially Nick. Earl Grey with some lemon is the absolute shiz.
