We were so close to breaking through in both 2018 and 2019. I think Barnes can get us there. It would be a fitting capstone for him to take us to our first Final Four or even second Elite Eight. But honestly, unless we’re missing the NCAA tourney multiple years in a row, I think he should have this job for as long as he cares to.Great roster. Now Rick HAS to show he can play in March!
Did I expect a class of 5 stars? Of course not. Did I expect to be doing better than 45th? Yeah, I kind of did. We're just going to have to agree to disagree. I think the investigation and pending sanctions is hurting our recruiting. It is what it is. I firmly believe we need to speed it up to an ending. I do agree with you that we need to do well on the field this year, otherwise, our recruiting will really go south. If those recruits have real interest in UT, then they’ll hop in when we win games this fall. If not, then they likely weren’t that interested to begin with. Regardless, did you expect Heupel to come in and pull a bunch of 4 and 5 stars before fall practice even starts? I know I didn’t. Now, If we surprise everyone and win 8 games this year, and recruiting is still lacking (and the investigation still over our heads), then I’ll be concerned. But recruiting is basically as expected to this point for a new coach coming from a G5 school and a HC not known for being a deadshot recruiter. Results on the field will bring the recruits.
Last I checked it’s still July! Our top 3 class in May last year didn’t mean chit by NSD. Just let it play out brotherDid I expect a class of 5 stars? Of course not. It scares me that we may never compete with the top of the conference again, but it scares me even more that we may drop to the bottom of the conference with Vandy.
Dip **** lost to Kentucky. We're there.Did I expect a class of 5 stars? Of course not. Did I expect to be doing better than 45th? Yeah, I kind of did. We're just going to have to agree to disagree. NCAA was always going to be involved in this. I was hearing about it in May 2020.
And I am nobody
Well it would help if the SEC office wasn't in Bubba territory. Also would help if TN was actually on the same page and the left and right hand actually got alongI was hearing the same things about Kirby’s recruiting a couple years after he got the Georgia job. Things like not doing a good job of hiding it, paying big money compared to the rest of the SEC, and breaking the unspoken rules. We know where that ended up. I don’t think it’s a given the NCAA would always be involved. I can’t stress enough that what Pruitt and Co was doing isn’t out of the norm. Tennessee just doesn’t have the support infrastructure to do it at a championship scale like Bama and UGA.
