Oakland is Murfreesboro, right?

Always feel like Murfreesboro teams box above their weight. Curious if there is an idea or theory why.
Not sure what you mean by "above their weight".

Murfreesboro has some of the largest high schools in the state. 2021 Largest Public High Schools in Tennessee

Oakland, Blackman, and Riverdale all in the top 15.

For years they were paid with scholarship grants. Some of that should be reimbursed through their NIL endorsements. The crapshow begins when not all players are earning the same amount, imo. Accountants are about to be happy if something like this happens.

You now have what can only be described as sub contractors playing a sport for Public and Private Universities that offer that sport. Schools with big money donors, alumni and connections to large corporations are now going to buy their schools a competitive team, one way or another. Many will be surprised in the near future as to the new teams which will have a monetary edge.

Bama has been doing this for years. Maybe this will level the playing field a bit.

Maybe so but just for sh!ts and giggles what if Jeff Bezos decided he want Princeton to have a great team, in theory he could buy one . I know that is far fetched but there is nothing out of the realm at this time. Look at the kid from TSU, a four year 2 MILLION dollar contract to play basketball and he is a 3 star player. I know his dad is a rapper but what if 4 or 5 music moguls decide that want to build TSU into the new Duke, not that that is a bad thing but..........

Oklahoma bought Marcus Duprees mom a house trailer according to a documentary a few years back. UT "allegedly" paid players cash using McDonald sacks and secured jobs for parents, Alabama uses the big bank in the state according to reports to buy cars and pay parents.........now it is legal.......sounds about right for College Sports Progression....SHOW ME THE MONEY !!!! Its good work if you can get it.

So does anyone think the Pirate over in Starkville will improve this year? Will be interesting to see if he progresses each season or is in the wrong conference... prolly doesn't help that we snagged one of his top WR's, but I know some on here thought he would be a good fit in Knoxville....
That's the expectation in Starkville. If they start the season strong I see 6-8 wins. They get Louisiana Tech, NC State, at Memphis, and TSU as OOC. From the East they get Kentucky and Vanderbilt. A down LSU at home. Auburn is down. TAMU is down but still better. Then Ole Miss is a rivalry game that can go either way.

I think Arkansas, Alabama, and probably TAMU are the only guaranteed losses for them.

Why is Arkansas a guaranteed loss?

He did better than usual last year (Y1 for him are usually awful last year). Usually takes him till Y3 to get rolling. That would be my expectation, 2023 to maybe go for 7-8 wins.

The SEC just has such good teams - not just defensively. Taking Miss St near the top is a lot harder than in the PAC. That's not a knock on him, that holds for all coaches in this league.

All kidding aside I really do think that the NCAA, NFL, NBA and WNBA should be set up like the MLB and NHL as far as bring talent in. Draft a kid out of High School, Juniors or AAU and let them choose, if there good enough, College with no pay and get a free education with the hope of progressing and getting drafted after graduation, Minor Leagues to progress and get paid or straight to the Pros and get the big bucks if the can. It sounds simple but that's basically the way the NHL and MLB have done it.....seems to work.
