Why is Arkansas a guaranteed loss?
Arkansas is an upperclassman-heavy team, whose only real loss was Franks. They'll probably replace him with Jefferson who played well last year when Franks was injured.

Arkansas's defense should be one of the league's better defenses. Experienced and year 2 under Barry Odom. Last year, the defense stiffled State and Arkansas won 21-14 in Starkville.

Leach might take State to a higher peak, but right now Arkansas is simply better and Pittman has a more balanced and experienced team. It's just not a matchup that I think bodes well for MSU.

You now have what can only be described as sub contractors playing a sport for Public and Private Universities that offer that sport. Schools with big money donors, alumni and connections to large corporations are now going to buy their schools a competitive team, one way or another. Many will be surprised in the near future as to the new teams which will have a monetary edge.
I'm out..I hate this ****

Not sure what you mean by "above their weight".

Murfreesboro has some of the largest high schools in the state. 2021 Largest Public High Schools in Tennessee

Oakland, Blackman, and Riverdale all in the top 15.
Just being in a smaller city. Would expect more of the top teams being in Nashville or Memphis, similar to basketball. Not just the teams being good by volume - they put out good individual players at a high rate it feels like too. I remember that one year there was JJ, Jack Jones, and I want to say Jacoby Stevens and a few others all in 1 year.

As long as we're one, I don't care. Our boosters need to pony up. I'm tired of being terrible

All kidding aside I really do think that the NCAA, NFL, NBA and WNBA should be set up like the MLB and NHL as far as bring talent in. Draft a kid out of High School, Juniors or AAU and let them choose, if there good enough, College with no pay and get a free education with the hope of progressing and getting drafted after graduation, Minor Leagues to progress and get paid or straight to the Pros and get the big bucks if the can. It sounds simple but that's basically the way the NHL and MLB have done it.....seems to work.
NFL refuses and have fought it all the way to the Supreme Court…for good reason. The NFL churns up athletes who’ve been seasoned and developed in their already established minor leagues…college. Scary what they could do to the average, overconfident high schooler.

Basically, college sports are now the developmental leagues for pro sports. It will be the Wild, Wild West until it ain't.

Us old farts have to give up the rah, rah., go team go, give it the old college try stuff of the past. Dead and gone.
Haven't they always been? Free developmental leagues for the professional organizations.

or #1 and #2 bolted and he was the last man standing... i hope he's a stud, but lets not act like if Wanya or JJ were still here, we would know who this guy even is
Not true. Go back to his old player thread. I said he was a good pickup as a PWO and could grow into a good player.

Also, Wanya was slow and JJ could barely keep from getting a false start. Davis is a way better LT than both of those individuals.

Both teams are full of upper classmen due to the covid rules…. I would pick Arkansas to win but you are putting a lot of faith in a team that won as many games as we did…..

That's a lot of money. But Dish, Pilot, and others got lots too.
Hopefully wrong, but someone here said the billionaire Dish guy didn't care that much about sports...just regular UT luck.

I mean...he puts us in his commercials...surely he cares ONE iota. 1% of his net worth is roughly $120 million. That could buy a decade worth of blue chips!!

He may very well be... You'd think the previous coaching staff would play the best players, but we know that wasn't the case in some situations

JaCoby was 3 years younger than JJ. Murfreesboro always has talent. Master Teague was a year behind JaCoby. Knox and Otey played same team as Teague.

Tons of people moving here daily. Talent moving in too.

Jordan James, Horton, Herring Brothers (‘22-‘23) from next class all SEC talent players.

Also Gary Rankin started the recruiting to Riverdale in the 90s.

Eric Locke was from Cookeville
