That's the core of the class and pretty much guarantees top 25. Land a few more like a Caden Curry, and we're top 20 for sure. Judging from what's being said about them and the offers they have, I'd expect squirrel and Phillips to get a bump which would raise our class up higher. Also, Venson Sneed is already a 4 star on Rivals, if 247 follows suit, that's another that will rise on the composite. This class is going to be okay. It will be much better if we have a decent year and score a lot of points.

Having a little fun with the class calculator, and granted this is before any updates (either rising or falling) to player ratings, I have added the following players to our class: the four mentioned above, plus Andre Stewart, Caden Curry, Joshua Josephs, Quentel Jones, Kaydin Pope, Jourdan Thomas, and Kalib Perry. That puts us at 20 commits in this class for a score of 221.44 which would have been the 20th ranked class last season. That's with 5 spots remaining, and none of those players with the exception of perhaps Curry, are a reach. but we have a legit shot at him. Now, how do they use those spots? For recruits or for the portal? No one knows, but I'd take a 20th ranked class this year with everything going on around the program. It's a start, and I'd expect they'd improve on that next year and get us inside the top 15 at least.
We need to win 6-7 games

Well… bama better look out, because here comes Oregon
Like individual shoe contracts, it all evens out. The Zion Williamses and Trevor Lawrences will always bank right out of high school. They’re not going to take flyers on every 3 star Marcus Mariota until they do something.

I'm aware. My point was that this is likely his social interaction for the week. Who truly cares if he calls in, if anything I appreciate his positivity.

I do think he needs a new schtick other than 'Hai fellas.'
Well….well okay

I have always wondered why everyone was so down on his coaching…. Stat wise….. that was our best defensive back play in years.
It was a fan perception (legit imo) that his DB’s never turned their heads to track the ball. That one maddening 3rd and 22nd completion by the opposing team to keep that crucial drive alive would highlight that gripe.

To me, this appears to be the recruiting strategy right now...... Get DB's with length... get smaller LB's with quickness and speed...
get athletic lineman on both sides of the ball that move well laterally... speed, speed, and more speed at RB and WR...get tall, rangy TE's.... and finally, bring in a fierce competitor that's unshakable at QB. Stars and recruiting rankings don't really matter if the kids fit these profiles and are coachable. These coaches seem supremely confident in their ability to develop players.

The poor culture was fairly noticeable last season when you had guys going to the huddle without helping their teammates up. Pretty obvious that it was "I'm gonna get mine" instead of team-first. That's the problem with a team of recruiters as the coaches- they move on to the next big thing and leave the guys they just signed flapping in the breeze.
Or can’t technically coach their way out of a paper bag. Faking it in hype videos (waving, shouting and looking intense) rings empty when you’re down to coaching fundamentals and you don’t know what you’re doing. That was the key difference in the Fulmer teams with and without Cut. Instilling fundamentals.

While I agree with a lot here, Middleton and Emerson played a good bit, and could help this year. And Key Lawrence played more than you apparently think. He was a rising star according to many.
Playing time dipped last year and would’ve been non-existent this season imo.

True. I expect Payton to catch a lot of balls this year. He, Hyatt, and Velus are going to be a three headed monster of speed at receiver if we have a QB who can get them the ball

Our biggest losses came not to the portal, but to the NFL. I wish we still had Bryce and Palmer. I wish we still had Henry and Gray, but I don't think either of those = an additional win. I'm not certain that Mitchell isn't better than Henry. Henry last year was not good. But that may have been more coaching than anything.

Gray was a good RB, but not elite, and went down very easily. I'm curious to see if Small and/or Evans are better than him as it is.

At the least, they should be able to block better than Gray. Heck, @InVOLuntary could block better than Gray.

Maybe i didn’t explain myself. We could use these guys but they didn’t want to stick around. It doesn’t matter how much playing time they got last year. They didn’t want to be here. And per my other comment, it makes zero sense the DL didn’t want to play for one of the top 2-3 position coaches in the country. The only explanation is the culture is still toxic.
Didn't want to play lol.

They did want to play. That's why they left. This isn't that complicated.

So who are we replacing these part time starters that all of sudden can’t get on the field?

Gooden, Middleton, Emerson, Williams and Mincey all left the team. That doesn’t include Washington, Evans, and Brooks who were freshmen. Evans and Brooks didn’t actually follow through on their NLI, but you get the point.

The notion that we’re deep at this position and processed then out makes no sense. What does make sense is that some of these guys were out of shape and didn’t put in the work. They may have wanted to play, but weren’t earning it.
