MidTennVol615: Over/Under 1.5 commits from now until end of July?
Callahan: That's still a little bit up in the air, so no one should take this as a sign that Tennessee is definitely getting two more commitments this month. But as of right now, with some moving parts still in play, I'll take the over.
Somebody ask him about who we're targeting in the secondary.Vol26: Other than Perry,Nichols,Joseph,Horton who else are we in a good spot with for 2022? Also who are some names to watch for us in 2023 class
Callahan: In addition to the guys you mentioned β and I do think Tennessee is in good shape with Kalib Perry and Isaiah Horton, and the Vols have as good of a chance of landing Addison Nichols as any of the teams he's considering β I think Tennessee is still probably the team to beat for DL target Quentel Jones of Georgia and WR target Kaydin Pope of Savannah, Tenn. But Jones and Pope have continued to talk about waiting until September to announce decisions, so there still could be some twists and turns in their recruitments.
Joshua Josephs, the other major Tennessee target you mentioned, just picked up an offer from Auburn a couple days ago.
That's a potentially big offer β he's in the Atlanta area, and he has multiple Auburn connections at his school β but, for what it's worth, the initial feedback on that one suggests the Tigers still have some work to do, which is pretty good news for the Vols. I wouldn't count out Auburn by any means, but he's not saying Auburn is already at the top of his list or anything like that. Tennessee has done a nice job with him and hosted him on two visits last month, but he's still going to take more official visits β including a trip to Knoxville for one of the Vols' home games β and he's planning to announce a decision sometime during his season.
As for the 2023 class, if you're wondering about players who might be high on Tennessee early, I think the Vols are off to a very good start with four-star edge rusher Caleb Herring β the younger brother of Vols commitment Elijah Herring β and they have made a good impression so far on at least a few other in-state targets, including defensive lineman Nathan Robinson of Greenbrier (Tenn.) High School, athlete Marquez Taylor of McKenzie (Tenn.) High School and athlete DeSean Bishop of Knoxville's Karns High School.
Let me rephrase... Alot of the folks in the business are worthless. Because I agree with you.I don't blame him for giving an answer like that because he gets destroyed for months if he posts even the smallest detail that's inaccurate or wrong, even though water itself is not as fluid as high school football recruiting.
I meant to respond before now, just been extremely busy.
Dad isn't good. We'll lose him this year. It doesn't seem fair but there's a reason for everything. I appreciate you asking about him, it definitely means a great deal to me that you thought to ask. Beers on me when you're in town.
McKenzie niceβ¦. Thatβd be interesting. Terrible competition in that region but hopefully the kid is a studβ¦. Guess I could ask a bunch of people I know thereβ¦..Vol26: Other than Perry,Nichols,Joseph,Horton who else are we in a good spot with for 2022? Also who are some names to watch for us in 2023 class

I think it was best all around for JG to leave-- better for him, better for UT, better for fans. Same for some other players who've portaled out, including a few who just left. The coaches spent time weeding out those who didn't have the commitment and buy-in needed to get better and make the team better. Most of the ones who left were part of the problem, not the solution-- and the sheer number shows how big the problem was.
Mexican standoff
So completely opposite of a Mexican standoff, then. Thanks very much.Yep. They came to agreement on everything but final details and verbiage a while back. It's hard to contractualize reno particulars like budget and scheduling when you don't have approved final drawings. It's going to take months to finalize all that-- and both parties were in accord on the intricacies involved. UT has enough issues without the media trying to manufacture drama over a process that completely lacked it.
