I know @DougAtkins91

Played a little golf with him in the past

That's cool - hopefully he's more chill in person 😁

I do like his articles in golf magazines. Seems like a good coach. He was just reeeeally pissed when his brother, the coach at UVA, didn't get the UT job. Couldn't let it go...even though Webb seems to be doing a fine job.

Nothing against him. Happy for him. I just have a hard time considering anyone that plays football anywhere after Tennessee a Vol For Life. You know, because Tennessee is the only thing I care about.
Don't think it was really much of his choice though. He was here 5 years and sacrificed his body week after week, playing with broken hand/wrist whatever. And many here said he was a VFL for what he did, despite the level of play...it was his dedication and sacrifice.

He easily could have left years earlier, but chose to stick it out through some crappy situations. In the end it seemed Pruitt put him out to pasture. It's not like he chose it. Don't think his VFL card should be stripped because of that.

So completely opposite of a Mexican standoff, then. Thanks very much.

Sexton: We want a big pile of money for coaches and major stadium renos. And make Tony one of the highest paid coaches in baseball.

UT: OK.

Sexton: Tony knows what he wants. He drew it up for you. You guys walked through it with him. We want to provide a great environment and a great fan experience and we want to get started. And we want it in the contract.

UT: OK. Let's figure it out and draw it up.

Both sides roll up sleeves.

It was always going to get done. I don’t have inside info, but it was clear from the outside that, at this point, neither party had any good alternatives outside of a signed deal for him to stay at UT.

Played a lot of golf against his brother. Only two losses I had my JR year in HS were against him.
Both were/are great players and great guys.

It would be a much better story if somewhere in there someone had kicked Sexton in the gonads. Kind of like he's been doing us all these years.

But I'm really happy the TV stuff is all sorted and taken care of.

I mean it would be different if he left on his own, and had never played 5 years here…. But he was literally forced out otherwise without COVID year he would have been trying to make a pro roster right now and would have only went to Tennessee.

I don’t understand why anyone would not consider him a VFL. Again, normal circumstances he would be trying to make an NFL team right now and would of only went to UT.
Well, I'm not going on a campaign to make sure no one can give him a card with his name on it. I'm just not voting for "anyone" to be admitted to the club that plays somewhere "after" Tennessee. Whereas, someone who transfers to Tennessee and only plays a year would be. Nothing personal to him or his circumstances. Is the NFL going to start listing all the schools someone played at since we have the merry go round? List where they started or where they finished first?

Probably the most Ryan Callahan answer ever haha

A few interesting observations:

1. Kaemen Marley is listed as a DB
2. William Mohan is listed as a LB
3. Bryson Eason is listed as a 290 pound LB (I’m assuming they haven’t updated his position yet)
4. Will Albright is listed as a LS
5. Juilian Nixon is listed as a TE

1. Think that was expected
2. Considered an Edge guy, and they list those as LBs on the roster
3. Also considered an Edge guy from my understanding.
4. He is a LS.
5. Also expected.

Julian Nixon listed as a TE on the released roster.
Kaemen Marley listed as a DB.
Amari McNeil listed as a DL. For some reason I was thinking he was going OL.
Brandon Turnage doesn’t have a number 🤷‍♂️

Edit: @VFL1993 ’d

IIRC, McNeil was recruited to play DL.

Noticed that about Turnage. Maybe the number he wanted is taken? Who knows?

In his defense, I think he saw the writing on the wall. He entered the portal on his own, but how many here would have been furious if he had stayed. This guy is one of the most hated players in history, to be honest and he always played hard and by all accounts, was a good teammate. I don't mind calling him a VFL.
He did. He was. I prefer calling him a player that played for Tennessee then transferred to another school.

The idea of JG in the NFL makes me laugh. :)

Honestly though, I bear him no ill will. He frustrated the hell out of me, but it's not like he played bad intentionally. And it was the coaches who continued to throw him out there. I feel bad that he and his family had to deal with death threats from the crazier part of our fanbase.

Yeah, really should've been a midpoint ("Get rid of that damn road or we're done here!") and Act 2 climax ("Coach CWS just got fired and they want Tony V for $1.45 mil plus escalators? Tony loves Hot City and their Droolworthy Stadium.") Sexton Zooms out, while DW and DP Double Gaulden computer and hurl Big Gulps at screen).

Just made me think, do we have any roads left on campus that we can name after TV? lol

Also Aaron Willis at 6’1? Must’ve hit a growth spurt...

I am angry.

We all know that Albright is a LB because we have such little depth there that we should consider playing a 4-1-6.

Peterman made it so it's definitely possible. I hope JG makes it. I feel like he was a true VFL until the death threat stuff.
