Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

We’ll have to at least recruit as well as Iowa State to stay on the field with these…oh wait!

I know you like the “buck up and play the big boys” style of scheduling, but what in the last 15 years makes you think that will help expedite Tennessee’s rebuild?

Ex-A&M prez: 'Agreement' could nix expansion

That gentlemen’s agreement won’t mean crap when the SEC will likely make billions from the addition of Texas and Oklahoma.
Who is it, exactly, drooling over more money? The ADs? Coaches? I don't understand the end game here. I get it could fund more sports and I guess that's good for SAs...but do they consider the circumstance they are putting themselves in, potentially signing up to be a team not even in the top 10 of their own conference?

Do ADs want to win something meaningful, such as a division or conference title? Or just more money?

Recruit your players and compete> roll up in the fetal position in a cornfield and pray that someone makes it easy for you…they won’t. You get the right guy, we have superior resources than Art Briles and now Matt Campbell had at their disposal.

If he is right and somehow knows it for 100% certain, and we do not have a true and genuine QB competition come fall, then that would be a terrible sign for the beginning of this tenure.

That being said, I am going to choose to believe that AP is FOS here. If not, id be pretty damn dissapointed.
Where do you jump from what AP said to "we do not have a true and genuine QB competition come fall"?

Maybe he just knows HB is well behind. Would be consistent with the Spring talk. People talk about O&W game, but even 247 has said that was 1 out of xx practices and scrimmages where he excelled. Apparently much different than what he had done in other scrimmages in practices. Obviously the coaches will want to see consistency.

Just sayin. Would be ecstatic if he wins it or someone else does and succeeds. But it feels like a large gap to cross to assume this means he wasn't given a chance or there isn't a competition. No one has anything to gain from that.

The previous 20 years to that. It all began to come together when they beat the U in the Sugar Bowl. What happened after that? The program began to compete at higher and higher levels along with stronger recruiting. 9 in a row over Bama type good.

It's not a fair comparison to base the Vol football program just on the most recent 15 years. That's a period of incompetence unrivaled in its long history. If Heup is the right guy and White handles the rest all of that begins changing in 6 weeks.

Oklahoma State's opinion means nothing

That they're releasing a statement on it means a lot. They may not know what has or hasn't happened but they're afraid that the report is accurate and that the two would bolt if given the chance. Personally, I don't want them here. The conference is already too big but I doubt any of our opinions matter on this. They certainly didn't ask us about TAMU and Mizzou.

OH wow I am so glad you said this. My 12 Altima has this horrendous glare on the windshield, even after I replaced it, it came right back. It's a thin film on the inside. It's impossible to clean. I've said for years that's it's from the plastic dashboard vaporizing and depositing on to the windshield, and everyone says I'm crazy. I'd heard about it on some sketchy forum, but I'm so glad that my suspicion is actually a real thing.

I want my team to win at the highest level. Shying away from competition doesn’t meet that definition. AAC is taking on new teams.

Cannot believe people are unwilling to accept that Iowa Sate is happening right in front of them in Ames, Iowa with Campbell and no names as players.

How would anyone be behind a player who hasn’t even taken a practice snap. I understood him.

This’ll be a setback for them…but the Big 10 will have to keep pace and Iowa is a natural. Recruit your type of players, succeed and then higher rated players will become your type. Campbell skipped the step of “We’re Iowa State…be gentle.”

Nor does losing against a slew of best teams and never making it out of your own division and looking silly every year.

If we were fully rebuilt, that would be one thing. This is like rebuilding with both hands behind your back.

To win the Big12 - just beat 7 other teams. The SEC? Just beat 15 teams lol. None of this makes sense.

A pro league would never let things get so out of control. Hey...let's have the AL have 24 teams and the NL can have 8. Wut?

The University of Texas has reached a settlement with the University of Tennessee over the use of the ''UT'' trademark on such items as T-shirts, beer mugs, key chains and customized toilet seats.

Texas said a possible court dispute loomed because Tennessee had applied to the federal government for the right to use the trademark on a number of items not covered under Texas' trademark rights.

Under the agreement between the two schools, Tennessee gets to use the trademark east of the Mississippi River and in Louisiana's West Baton Rouge Parish, home of Southeastern Conference member Louisiana State University.

Texas will own the trademark everywhere else west of the Mississippi.

In addition, the agreement gives the Longhorns and Volunteers limited rights to use the popular interlocking UT logo design in each other's territory during bowl games or other special events.

A staff recommendations to the Texas Board of Regents said the solution was not ideal, but ''it does avoid a costly and protracted administrative and court proceeding.''

Then give up, dude! You don’t get outside help on your way to greatness. Iowa State was a winless team…as was Baylor. You look silly when you lay on your back with your legs in the air…like a bug! Compete from the beginning and repeat as necessary.

Clemson and Ohio State have won titles in the past decade playing in weak conferences that have allowed them to build coaching stability and sustained success.

My point isn’t that it is impossible for Tennessee to win looking at the program in isolation, it’s that on a relative basis we would now be squarely beneath 8 other teams in the conference. No objective coach, commentator or recruit puts today’s Tennessee above Bama, A&M, Florida, LSU, Georgia, Auburn, Texas, or Oklahoma. It’s a much tougher sell, particularly with so much going against us right now (NCAA, bad roster, sky high fan expectations, etc.).

I think this makes rebuilding Tennessee much harder.

He didn't really bet his left nut, I'm just being sarcastic.

He basically said HB was super inconsistent all through the Spring and not impressive based on who he talked to in the program. And after his 30 second diatribe he says "But it might be HB, I'm not making any predictions". Lol.

If his performance in the spring game was him being inconsistent then I can't wait to see what he looks like after a summer training and then fall camp.

Granted spring game means just about nothing, but he looked like the best QB on the team hands down.

Stay in your lane or swerve. Things stay the same until someone changes it. I don’t want to be in the Big 10 so I give a **** if it’s easier. Give similar **** to coaches or commentators…they’re never in our corner. Recruits? They go where it’s good and you don’t get there with a beta mentality.
