Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

I recall thinking that Nebraska would never regress from being one of the greatest dynasties of football, but they did.

Notre Dame had the largest fan base and private school network to guarantee permanent greatness, but that faded.

Surely, there’s no way FSU would ever lose their dominance over the ACC, but it happened.

Miami, not once but twice had it all going in a city that recruits itself to hormonal young men, but neither time lasted.

USC had it all going and had 5*’s signing to ride the bench, so there’s no way they ever regress, but guess what?

And this is all just in my lifetime. Now add Bama to that list, but when Saban retires they’ll fade too. In fact, any conference realignment probably won’t happen until after he retires, which opens up great opportunity.

For every team I listed that faded, another one took its place. It’s almost time for Bama to fade. We just need to be poised to take advantage. I think we’re on our way. It starts at the top. The early returns point to Danny being the best AD since Dickey, so I have hope we are moving in the right direction finally.

Tl;dr: Why not us? We’re due.

All just thought I’d share my 2 cents regarding the upcoming QB Battle.

While I like Bailey at QB, if Coach Huepel can get Milton to slow down his game a little bit allowing plays to develop…. That kid could be special. I rewatched some of his game films (not just highlights) and that Michigan Offensive Line was like Swiss cheese.

Milton was having to either 1 run for his life or two get the ball out extremely fast. If our OL gives Milton time…. That dude can be dangerous. The velocity he has on the Ball is absolutely insane and he can throw it a Mile…..

Imagine receivers running down field and getting a ball launched from him in stride…. Bailey definitely has his work cut out for him to try and hold Milton off…. (Milton can flat out make something out of nothing as well)

Yeah I watched his full game tape from last season about a month ago and it changed how I felt about him.

It's official. I am old. I miss the bowls and school spirit and hope that different teams would have great seasons. ESPN seemed to have ruined it all by just focusing on a few teams and declaring everyone else irrelevant. Then we needed a playoff to decide the NC. That has not only made most teams irrelevant but meaningless. So now we need super conferences which will just continue the cycle. Soon there will be 20 teams that get to play competitive games.

I’m watching the 2019 Pitt/UCF game. They cannot guard UCF’s speedy receivers. Our receivers are faster. Our RB is faster. They will not be able to keep up with us.

Also, they are known for defense. They lost their five best defenders to the draft last year. So their defense will take a step back, while our offense will jump.

Their QB is a R-SR. He’s terrible. His last 3 years as a starter:
2018: 50.8% 1,969 12/6
2019: 61.6 3,098 13/9
2020: 61.1 2,408 13/9

He’s not good. Their offense is weak. Defense is mediocre. They won’t be able to keep up. We’re going to beat them 45-24 or something like that
How about how they lost that game? Not counting Gabriel’s INT - but the TE not keeping his feet in bounds on back to back plays/TD passes. Game would’ve been sealed. Just incredible how UCF lost games in 2019. Hard to put much blame on Heupel.

I honestly believe our defense is going to surprise.
