Eww, why would the Big 10 want Kansas? The wild card in the Big 12 for me is Oklahoma St. and WVU. Where do they go? What about TCU and Baylor?

Big 10 is a great basketball conference. Kansas is about as elite as it gets in basketball. Vast history. Great fan support. It’s not all just football.

College athletics as we knew it is dead. Welcome to the 4-team Super Conference!
Not sure about dead but, I certainly have no interest in watching my team suffer through this gauntlet because of money.

Just isnt fun...all these rules and changes for the dollar take fun out of it.

I don't know how any fan of Tennessee could be happy with this move. Just imagine this conference schedule:

Florida
Georgia
Auburn
South Carolina
Alabama
Oklahoma
Kentucky
Vandy
LSU
Either you're good or your not. I just want to be proud of my team, of the effort. I don't expect championships every year but I do expect a good product on the field. I'd rather win a conference title once every six or seven years in the best conference than every other year in a worse conference. That's just me of course.

To play devil’s advocate, wouldn’t every team’s schedule get tougher as well? I would think that the overall records in the conference will get worse and so it kind of evens itself out. I would expect to see teams in the playoffs with 2 losses on a consistent basis.
But here's the thing every other school in the SEC besides Vandy, SCjr, and maybe Arky are in a much better position program wise than we are right now to take on this new conference alignment.

Good point a caller just made on Basilio - we've always had Bama as our permanent opponent. If they move to the East, now our rivals for the division title have to play them every year as well. UF and UGA now have to take them on every year as well, so our relative position in the division may improve somewhat. Also get to trade Mizzou for our more traditional rival Auburn, who is going through a transition themselves. With a 12 (or even 16) team playoff, if we get our own house in order, we can be in the running for that group every year, even if we aren't challenging for a conference title, which will mean less and less the bigger the playoff field gets.

Regarding the UT alumni/fan Fantasy Football tournament - post got deleted on the football forum. Where would you guys suggest putting it up so that VN users get a chance to enter?

I really don't get all the hand wringing. I understand the arguments, but I just disagree with the underlying assumption that these two teams materially change the dynamics of the conference. If AL wasn't already our permanent opponent, then I'd get it. But with them in that position, I think this is really sort of a wash for us. It's not like TX or OU is going to be harder to recruit against now that they're in the SEC. That doesn't change.

I like the fact that this likely ends the stupidity of Mizzou being the SEC East. That was a farse from the beginning. Frankly I think Mizzou belongs in the Big10 from a geographic and cultural standpoint. I wouldn't mind swapping Mizzou for UCF or one of the other up and coming Florida schools. Would make more sense. I wouldn't poach the ACC, they need more balance, not less.

I would suggest they do away with the divisions. I would assign each team has 4-5 permanent opponents and each 4 rotating opponents. I would realign the title game to have the top two teams in the conference each year regardless of geography. Teams maintain their key rivalries but at the same time the whole conference becomes more relevant to each team rather than just a pod or division. Would also make the conference championship mean more in those years where one of the two divisions is down. There were past years where we'd have played UF again in the championship game if this had been the structure. Same thing for LSU & Bama more recently.
