Take a lap Aggies, the grown-ups are talking.
I don't know how any fan of Tennessee could be happy with this move. Just imagine this conference schedule:
Florida
Georgia
Auburn
South Carolina
Alabama
Oklahoma
Kentucky
Vandy
LSU
I think you’re wrong here. All those other changes took place while amateurism was still a thing. Now it’s all about money from the conferences down to the players. A lot of changes are happening all at once and it’s fundamentally changing CFB. Slowly but surely turning into an NFL-lite. The things that made CFB unique are being trampled and thrown in the trash for the good ole, tried and true money-grabbing capitalist formula.I'm hanging my hat on the idea that a conference realignment means one or both of UGA / UF is getting bumped from our annual schedule. ultimately, i don't care. CFB goes through these seismic shifts (first SEC shake up in the 60s, BCS bowl system, playoffs, NIL, on and on) and eventually things feel normal again. it'll happen here, whether or not UT / OU end up in the SEC. I just want to watch some football come September.

Big names? What big names? That has become like a mystical fantasy for all programs unless your on a team like bama, Ohio state, or Clemson.Yep! Nonetheless, over the last 15 years we've somehow kept members of the fanbase who still think a new coach with a patchwork roster under the cloud of an NCAA investigation should be able to win 8-9 ball games against that schedule if "he's the guy." LOL. ...That's part of why we're cycling through coaches every 3 years and why no big names want to come here...

Under the new CFB landscape, where everything is about money, it is 100% a great move for the conference and even the players. Bigger TV deals. More Face Time for the players. More NIL deals with bigger payouts. All equaling to the SEC remaining the most sought after landing spot for every high school kid and thereby the SEC remaining the elite of the elite in CFB and really every major college sport. SEC is already there in baseball. Close in basketball. SEC kicks ass at the smaller sports too. This move just further cements SEC dominance while bringing in big big for everyone at the table.Couple of things---
Is it me, or does it seem like OU and Texas just decided they wanted to join the SEC and bullied their way in? I know it is all about money, but I am shocked the SEC thought this was a good idea long term for the conference... I would think the commissioner would have at least tested the waters with each SEC school to get their thoughts...
Okay, so if this is happening, did OU and Texas think about the fact that as far as I can tell, no one in the SEC wants them, and the fans will NOT welcome them... Think about how brutal games/tailgating will be for them to come to one of the existing schools, especially the first couple of years... I know people are joking, but I bet the entire SEC fanbase will be "horns down" the entire pre-game, game, and post-game the first season.
UT vs Texas... how is that going to work moving forward in terms of "UT"... ?? I don't care how bad we've been the past 10yrs, you come into OUR conference, you take a backseat, at least initially....
Then there's recruiting....
